Aftermarket Throttlebodies for Evo.Worth it?
Aftermarket Throttlebodies for Evo.Worth it?
So is the works Apeture the only one available or are there others out there. If not is there any real gain with it on a modified car, if so what have you seen as far as power goes?

Its still up in the air.. I can see that it could benefit someone who has already removed a majority of the other restrictions in the "System" and this is one of the last restrictions..
The works throttlebody is the only one i'm aware of that uses a stock throttlebody core.. Accufab offers a throttlebody also, however you lose the Idle Air Control solenoid and from what I'm aware of, its not a bolt-on swap for a stock manifold
Honestly if your someone considering upgrading the throttlebody, its likely you've already either upgraded or ported a stock manifold though..
According to several tuners, the gains are neglegable for the cost, however its one of those things thats likely worth more in concert with other changes.. Kinda like the upgraded O2 housing, it isn't worth much until you upgrade the turbine housing to the 10.5
I do plan on doing a throttlebody upgrade since I already have a core to send out.

My mods are listed in my sig - I felt a definite gain in the old butt dyno after adding the works throttle body - more responsive and powerful throughout the powerband, maybe a little faster spoolup too...
It definitely can't hurt anything.. I think as your additional mods "Add up" then things like the throttlebody and other mods will make a bigger difference.
From my standpoint, though its a little expensive, Its a worthwhile investment for myself.. I'm also doing a Coil On plug ignition system, which most would say isn't necessary, but as you add components together, the sum of the parts offers more than the individual ones..
I'm not advocating throwing a bunch of parts together and you'll make horsepower... because the truth is the worst thing you can do is put together a ton of mismatched parts.. However the throttlebody is one of those changes that really can't hurt anything, and can only help.

A friend has this installed.... looks like a work of art, might want to check if it fits your throttle body.
