Lancer EVO maintenance costs?
 

Curious to see how much it costs for routine maintenance on these cars.

so far, $600 for winter tires @ 7000 miles. I get free oil changes every 5000 miles.

Geez the tires really don't last long on these cars huh? Is that with a lot of hard launches or what?

The car would be my daily driver & I won't be beating the piss out of it every time I get behind the wheel, but I will get on it at times of course.

notice, i said winter tires. my summer tires (the stock ones) will go back on in the summer. i imagine they will last around 15000 miles if you drive it normally.

synthetic oil change = $60 +

regular maintenance = whatever, do it yourself and save money.

Air filter = $20 every 3000 miles (for me)

tires = every 10,000 miles +/- 5000 miles depends on the tire/ usuage =$500 ~ $unlimited.

Clutch = upto the owner, but it'll last about 30,000+ miles if taken good care of/not having any fun with the car. = $1200 ~ $3000 depends on the clutch (includes installation).

Mods = $100 to $unlimited <--- this one is up to you.

Anyway, it's not that much if you don't mod, but if you do, it'll cost you.

Platinum plugs don't have to be changed until 60,000 miles ($20 a pop x 4)

changing timing belt = not until 50,000 miles or so.

So, really not that much, but you do have to calculate gas on this.

Gas'll get you. I drove 1200 miles my 1 st week of getting this car.

That's the big one... I turned my Boost Control down to 12.5psi because I couldn't help myself going through a tank every 2-3 days at 21psi :lol: The tires wear more quickly than average whether you launch a lot or not. The biggest wear on them is hard cornering. Also, I wore through my first brake pads pretty quickly. The problem with the car is it's so good it's hard to avoid the temptation to pull hard through corners and use boost often.

How many qts do they hold? 5 qts of Mobil 1 is $20. I assume you mean taking it to a shop. I change my own oil.

$20 each for plugs for these cars? That's friggin insane. Plat plugs for my GTP total about $50 for 6

Not a concern for me anyway. I have cars that require super now + my GTP gets about the same mileage as the EVO

one of the big car magazines says it is .33 per mile. that figure should include everything, average payment, fuel maintenance, ect. if it was .34 p/m then it wouldve gotten a poor rating. so its up there as far as expensive to drive, but if you buy new, you get the free maintenance which is a big plus.

I'd be buying a used 03 or used 04

Oh yeh, and the speeding tickets and time you spent defending and proving that your wing came OEM.

That and insurance cost.

Gas is expensive, i put in either toluene, or a few gallons of 100 octane($6 a gallon) to bring 92 octane to 93/94 octane cause the engine follows a diff fuel map if knock sensor isn't tripped. so i get about 13/14 mpg. cause i can't stay out of boost. but man, i driven a lot of cars over my lifetime, and this is the best!. when shopping for this car , i was considering the TL, G35, 330, and IS300, even the toyota xrunner, i don't think i could have ever forgiven myself if i hadn't bought the car. i would have been what if i had bought the evo?, the only thing that is more desirable to me is an r-34 skyline gtr

Gas is not an issue for me

I use Raceway or Hess 93 octane and drive from Matawan to Englistown for work and get 19 to 21 mpg. I drove up to Niagra Falls for the 4th of July and got up to 26.5 mpg with a steady cruise. The tires are really soft compound and wear really fast and the 35mph right turns don't help them last a long time.
The biggest drawback is knowing that you can stop in half the distance that that fool on your a$$ can (60 to 0 in 108 feet). Too much fun.
