Your say on the EVO's Ride.

I was wondering what you guys have to say about how the Evo ride, I'm not talking about how well it goes around turns, but how comfortable it is to drive. (Bumpyness, noise, etc)
The MR might change compared to the stock EVO VIII so I will include that in the poll and please when you reply before you write what u have to say either put one of the two,
EVO: blah blah
or
MR: blah blah

Thanks!

Evo: its bumpy...yepp...really. Its noisy - you mod...more noise....you get bored and strip off trunk lining...it get noiser....its not comfortable at all for long trips...yea..but who cares eh?

Evo: voted:decent

If the roads here didn't look like a freshly cleared mine field I would probably love the ride. The roads here are crap and it does get a to be a little tough on the back and kidneys but, it's like that no matter what you drive here unless it's a big soft crappy american car.

when I first got the Evo...oh boy the ride was way too stiff(my roads too look like minefields)
but it grew on me fast
I LOVE the handling on this car...I just need to get rid of the body roll and of course add more power ;)

I love the ride. I used to spend money just to get that ride on my other cars.

It isn't comfortable, in fact it feels like it is on railroad car springs. I can feel everything going on with the tires but given the way I like to drive it, that is a good thing.

Evo: decent

Well my passengers usually complain and ask why my car is so bumpy, but I really dont even notice.

RAevoVIII Apr 4, 2005 07:29 PM

I love the ride.

I got that the evo is pretty damn bumpy, but can you buy different things to help it with atleast 50 percent?

mdosu Apr 4, 2005 08:07 PM

it was a shock to me at first based on my old toyota, but I'm so used to it now, riding in other cars gives me the uneasy "floating" feeling.

I don't notice any of this in my MR. I have never driven a non-MR Evo, so I can't compare to those, but my previous car was (still trying to sell) a 2001 IS300. That car is plush and very comfortable, but it still handles pretty well. The Evo is not as comfortable, but I never noticed any of the stuff I was told to expect by other Evo drivers before buying my MR. The car doesn't track, I don't notice bumps anymore than usual, I don't experience excessive noise, and I don't get uncomfortable while driving EXCEPT for the fact that I don't have cruise control. Keeping my foot on the pedal the whole time is the most (and only) uncomfortable part of driving my MR.

I think the MR's bilstein setup are a lot softer than the GSR's setup. When I test drove the two cars, there was a noticeable difference.

SinGin Apr 4, 2005 11:11 PM

EVO: I voted decent but almost picked 'love the ride'. I almost love it but can't commit to using those four letters... :p
