HarmanMotive's Tuning Prices

I found this to be a bit on the high side let me know your thoughts.

399$ for base flash to your mods

599$ for custom tuned flash on a dyno.

Seems a little rough on the wallet considering TurboTrix charges 199$ for a base flash without shipping.

Oh and their Install prices are 80$ an hour if you bring the part to them and 75$ if you buy the parts from them.

Too bad to cause I really liked the experience the last time I was there. plus they increased they're Dyno times to :

3 pulls Without AFR readings = 100$

3 pulls with AFR readings = 125$

One hour rental of the dyno = 150$

used to be 75$ =3 pulls & 100$ = 1hr rental.:crap:

Rushin Jul 8, 2005 06:04 PM

that kinda sucks.. i was considering going there out of convenience. i work within walking distance from them.

KILTERMAN Jul 8, 2005 06:06 PM

yah I am about 20min driving from there. I have been hearing good things about tuning Technologies lately I might give them a call and report back the findings

EDIT: they are closed. Their Normal Business hours are M-F, 10-6.

From their website it looks as if their dyno times are as follows :

3 pulls with AFR = 100$

3 pulls W/O AFR = 80$

1hr dyno rental = 125$

I dont particularly know what this means but they have this listed on their website:

Tuning (Hourly) = 165$

Rushin Jul 8, 2005 06:10 PM

yup.. im gonna check them out on the vishu dyno day

I understand your feelings about the prices and all, but if Dan is as good as they say his then it’s worth it in the long run. For example, if I pay more to get something done right, then it worth it to me, because I won’t have to take time off to have it redone or hassle with the shop about why it was AFU in the first place. FYI, I intend to have my baseline dyno done at Dan’s shop on my birthday.

Fully understand where your coming from , Customer service Is a must for me and thats why I really like HarmanMotive, Great Customer service and great people (esp Dan) .

unfortunately I am not willing to pay 200$ difference in a "base" flash that I can get thru the mail from Turbo Trix.

Custom tuned is again a 200$ difference between other highly respectable tuner shops, no offense to Dan .

I hear you, but I've noticed that when you are doing business via "mail order" things can get distorted very quickly, eg not being able to contact the person right away, not being able to go to the “shop” and doing a face to face with the person. Plus there is the time/inconvenience factor for dealing with problems when they come up, mail order just seems to take longer. Anyway, good luck.

Very valid point. May be worth the extra 200$ bucks.

Your without your ecu for a day, overnight out and overnight back. IF i do a base flash ( mail in ) in the parking lot of my place or on the desk, its the same. IF your paying for a custom flash then obviously thats diff. I tuned at harmen a while back, didnt know they got into the flash bus. Even if someone can " tune a car ", the flash software is very diff then any other tuning tool on the market. Its taken some time to master it. It doesnt come with an owners manual on how to tune it, it has no load sites nor rpms sites, and you cant view in real time. Al from dynoflash can attest its not as easy as one might think. Good luck

P.s. im going out to see some people from aem in the fall, if it can wait ill custom tune your car

I agree with everything which Mark has said.

The reflash process is something which is a on-going work in progress.

The more experience and TIME that you invest the better the results and the capabilites.

The capabilities and possibilities are virtually unlimited with what can be adjusted and how you can adjust it. LOTS of trial and error and learning curve is suggested in order to obtain excelent results.

As far as a mail in flash - as Mark has suggested - we do those via fed ex the same day the car is recieved. The customer recieves the ecu the very next day.

IMHO what seperates my work from other tuners is the amazingly HUGE library of tuning calibrations which I have obtained oiver the past two years. I can get you a very good base line through the mail flahs on virtually any combination of evo parts on any type of fuel. Of course custom tuning is always suggested , however, in many cases people are located in geographic areas where no Evo specific tuners are located and often no awd dyno facility can be found. In those cases the through the mail flash provides the customer with a very reliable, safe amd well running car at a very reasonable price.

My prices are

Through the mail Evo 8 reflash - $199 - plus shipping vis fed ex $224 total

Through the mail update flash (new mods) $100 - plus shipping $124 total

Dyno tuned custom flash with 2 hours dyno time and before and after dyno sheet
$400 - My shop at Milford, CT only

Custom tuned flash with 2 hours road tuned - at your location $400

Custom retune - (existing customer) $350

ALL CUSTOM flash customers get free through the mail flash updates for life of car

I also offer a rental car reimbursement program and a resale program as well

i hate to say it but HarmanMotive's Tuning Prices are just way to high. they to have great service and do a great job. i guess it's the price you pay for instant gradification. i can say one thing they waste no time taking good care of you. you don't have to wait 3 weeks to get service. the best thing to do is look at you situation and shop around accordingly. i wouldn't mind doing business with them but, at those prices i may never go back.

i purchase Utec and dyno tune there. Dan tuned too aggressive 12:1 and my injector were max out 99%. I asked him to tune it back around 11:1... he said he can't do anything unless i have a bigger injector or put race gas. when i drove back home that day, i have a lot of knock. At that moment, i have no idea how to tune with utec..and i don't want to blow up my motor. I end up sold the Utec unit. Overall, it just bad experience for me.
