hks 280's dont fit with 2.3 liter short block
just got word from my local shop that my 280 cams have to big of a lift for my newly bought 2.3l short block and i need smaller cams like 272's to make it happen. Has anyone had this problem
|
dont 280's only have a 10.8 mm lift??
|
We used the 280's with 2.3's and 2.4's. I also have the Tomei 280's on my 2.4
|
your garage is wrong.. 280's have less lift than 272's.
|
That makes no sense at all.

Who is building your motor? I think you might want to take it some where else to have the work done. {thumbup}

That is just stupid, the AMS Evo in penscola is putting 280s in his 2.3L aswell. Take your car elsewhere.

Tell that shop to put down the tools, and step away from your engine/car. They have no clue of what they are doing, the shortblock was set up wrong (wrong rod re-sizing during build, in which cam size is the least of your troubles), or the head/valves/springs/retainers are sized and/or setup wrong. They should be able to tell you which part of the engine is at falt for risking piston-valve clearance issues, and if they come up with "cams to big, get 272s instead", they are sooo wrong.
Get theat car and/or engine out of there TODAY! |

What brand stroker kit are you using - does the piston stick out over the top of the deck? (positive deck height)? This is crazy
