HELP! Removing gum from seat!
I have a huge problem. Someone sitting in my passenger seat must have sat on some gum before getting in the car because I just noticed that there's gum caked onto my seat. The big problem is that it seems that it's been there for a while because it's on a part of the seat that you can't see from the driver's seat. The gum is on the black felt-like material of the Recaro seats. How do I get this out without ruining the material on the seat!?

Hmmm.. maybe try some goo-gone....
|
never had it on my seats but ice always got it out of hair... maybe it will work
|
Ice will work. Freeze it and then use your nail to take off the gum.
Goo Gone works also but make sure u don't put it on your seats. Put some on a paper towel and slowly dab/blot the gum off. Do not smear or try wiping it off.. it might make it worst. I've had to do some gum surgery before also. |
yup. ice.
i had some gum on my floor mats. worked like a charm leave ice on it for a while and scrape it off with your finger nails gently. then put on ice and wait again and repeat until back to normal. best of luck |
If yoyu use goo-gone or some other chemical solution test it on a spot you cant see to make sure you dont stain/bleach the sheat.
|
like everyone else said. ice will surely get it off. just freeze it and scrape at it with a fingernail or butter knife, nothing too sharp though. i don't think i would try and chemicals. good luck.

ice to remove chunks.
adhesive remover on a rag, rub out sticky residue. |
Mayonaise eats gum!
Southern Fix..... Mayonaise. Pull off the heavy stuff and slowly rub mayo into the remaining gum. Will desolve the gum and will not stain. Rub on with your fingers and tab off with wet cloth. Orginally designed to remove gum from hair..... works great. Do a search on the web from "Removing Gum" = Mayo.

i agree ice also does it but i have one thing to add... for the love of god why would u let someone chew gum in ur car ;P i dont let anyone smoke, drink, eat, chew,or anything in my car... all they can do is breath and hold on for dear life :D

try a can of air, the stuff they sell to clean keyboards and stuff, turn it upside down and it will spray ice out, freeze it up w/that and then scrape it off.
|
Go to a store where they sell janitorial supplies. Look for a spray can(forgot the name), its used to harden puke and gum by freezing it.

the can of air trick works real well. it freezes it faster and harder than regular ice cubes. plus it won't get your seats all wet since it's liquid CO2 and will evaporate quickly. scrape it will something like a butter knife, not your finger nails, unless you want burnt fingers. |
Ice is a great idea. It is a cheap solution and you don't put any chemicals on your seats that might damage it
