Evo Owners, This Bud's For You!

Hey, guys, I don't know if this belongs in "General," or not, but I have some awesome news for those of you that dig R/C!

Radio Shack has just released the Evolution under their "XMods" brand R/C cars. Check out "www.xmodsrc.com" for more information on these.

It looks like I'm going to be getting an Evo, after all! {thumbup}

I already have a 2004 STi XMod, and a 1967 Camaro XMod. These things are pretty cool, and they look pretty authentic, as far as the styling goes.

Yeah, I think they're pretty cool little gadgets. But I did notice that the new models that just came out are priced at $59.99, compared to the ones that have been on the market for a while ($49.99). I'll definitely be getting the Evo.

I also bought almost all the parts for my STi and Camaro. Everything except for wheels, that is. I even went so far as to get a $5 carbon fiber driveshaft off of eBay. :D

Keep in mind that they only have rwd, and you need to buy the awd kit to convert the Evo. I have the AWD in my STi. {thumbup} How can you live with yourself if you only have an STi with rwd?

I can't wait to see the body kit for the new Evo MR car.

I have no idea what an X mod is?

It's a little remote control car. Check one out at www.xmodsrc.com. They're awesome.

They're little r/c cars that are about 6 inches long. You can upgrade motors, suspensions, gears, wheels, tires, ground effects kits, etc. You can even purchase carbon fiber driveshafts off of eBay for them.

Be forwarned. These cars are addictive, and IF you choose to purchase ALL of the parts, you're looking at about a $190-$200 investment EACH.

I just don't think that would do it for me.

I used to race 1/10 scale cars...I have a gas powered AWD car with all kinds of mods. Probably got over $1,000 in that thing.

I need to knock the dust off it and tune it up, or sell it. Just haven't had the time to race it in a while.

Yeah, same here, I had an AWD electric Tamiya Calsonic Skyline. Cost me about $500 and would go 40mph.

Eh, maybe not, but they'll fit nicely in a suitcase if you go on vacation. It'll give ya somethin to do in the hotel room if you have the poops after a huge meal. :D Especially if you drink the water in the Virgin Islands. :crap: I won't make that mistake again......

oh.. ok, sounds cool. Too bad the only place i could use one is in my small kitchen. And i hear ya on the moding costs. I bought 2 T-Maxx trucks 2 years ago and spent almost 1500 in extra parts, bodies and everything else i could find for them. Those trucks would do about 60 some mph!

The title of this topic made me hope they made one of those "bud light presents real men of genious" comercials for us.

Mine is an HPI Nitro RS4, I've got 3 sets of wheels/tires, upgraded engine, header, exhaust, air intake, 2-speed tranny, suspension, belt tighteners, onboard engine temp gauge, electric starter box, etc. Acura NSX race body, then a Civic SI and Mercedes body for show.

Tons of fun, goes 60 or 65, but gets there in a helluva hurry!

I purchased an HPI Corvette C5R a while back, and I can't recall the price of it. It may have been around $150? Maybe $300? Then, of course, there was the price of the controller, and everything else. I tallied up the cost, and when it was all said and done, it would've been nearly a $1000 investment. Since I had the car on layaway, I quickly went back, and got my money back. I should've done some research on the "start-up cost" BEFORE deciding to get one. :crap:

Aside from that, I've never built a motor, or have had any experience with them, and it looked like one screw-up, and I would be stuck purchasing a new motor, which was pretty expensive, if I recall.

I think I'll stick to the "kiddie toys," like XMods. :D
