HELP!!! Can't Decide!
O.K. everyone. I have a decision to make. I was set to get an 03 WRX with an MRT large FMIC and MRT tubo-back exhaust, new from the dealer. Mitsu dealer calls me today and says he finally got an EVO in. Payments will be about the same, just a year less on the WRX. I've never owned either, but need to decide soon, or the EVO will be gone. I don't plan on racing either right now, if ever. I have a family, so I'm not looking for all out fun, I need some practicality as well. Financing is in hand for either car. Please give suggestions!!!!!!!!!

EVO VIII ITS NEWER PLUS SEXIER :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

If practacality is of utmost importance, you may want the WRX. If your wife or children might not approve of a very stiff suspension and a loud interior, you should get the WRX.
If you don't give a damn about what they think, get the Evo. {thumbup} What state are you located? SC~ |
EVO all the way. I could easily afford a rex but im holding off since the evo is the real animal.
|
You should probably drive them both.
|
My wife says to get whatever I want. She has the family car, so we won't be traveling in it. I already drive a 2G eclipse thats lowered 2", I'm sure the ride won't be that harsh.
|
This a Evolution forum. So it's really going to be biased. Most of us are going to say the Evolution of course. But whatever you can benefit from both vehicles. As drmosh said test drive them both if not already, and see which one is best suited for you.
|
I'll definitely drive the EVO before I decide. I've already driven the WRX, so I have an idea of how it handles.
|
If you have a family car already, I say go EVO... the stock WRX doesn't compare to the EVO as far as suspension geometry goes.
Then again, you can always wait for the STi and see how that is. |
Well if you've already got the 2G eclipse than your best bet is probably the EVO... The WRX is fun, but the EVO is all business...
|
get an evo....
if you do't like it, trade it for the wRx... {thumbup} |
I currently own an evo now and drove a WRX for 4 months.
Wrx -Softer ride -Lots of turbo lag -16" all seasons -horrible brakes -Doesn't have sport suspention more like a mustang -Glass trans to prevent you from modding. Can't put in reverse unless depressin clutch. Also can't down shift to first gear while rolling unless your rev match. Still hard to go in and no advised. -side air bag -trans clunk when shifting fast, (group n mount helps) Evo -very ridgid and sensitive steering -More room -very harsh ride -More like a honda motor under 3k. Lags like a twin turbo car. No lag compared to WRX -17" summer only tires -Awesome brembo brakes -Have a suspention to compete againt a ZO6 vette with 295 tires. And evo only have 235's {OMG} -no tranny constraint for future mods. -recaros instead of side air bags :) If you plan to mod evo is so much more car for the price. Modded wrx will cost more and still unable to compete. Too much to replace. Example-Stuff needed to add Upipe, Hi-flow cat, new turbo, new intercooler, injectors, FMIC or larger TMIC, STi spec c suspention, heavy duty clutch to match the power, Whiteline roll 24mm sway bar, R160 drive train vs tougher STi R180. group N mounts, exhausts, Stop tech brakes, 17" rims and tires, fuel pump, trans, Gear ratio. Just on top of my head, I wonder how much that'll cost. Use this as a guide for amount of $ and item to get the same hp. http://www.rcdevelopments.com/index2.htm Stock for stock Evo = track car that looks like family car. WRX = Good performance for a family car. |
Thanks, for all the input guys. It looks like I'll be driving a new yellow EVO in a few hours. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

I think my user name says it all.... Evo Is The Way To Go.... {thumbup}
