California EVO's different than rest of USA??

Anybody know if the California evo has anything different than the federal (other states) model? (i.e. emissions equipment, detuned, etc. ?) Wondered if anyone has contacted Mitsubishi on this and gotten any info.

This may answer a lot of questions going around the other dyno-related threads...

thanks for any info,
heff

I know on some cars and sportbikes the cars vary from California to the rest of the US.

2000 Eclipses came that way. Their all Cali spec now.

205HP for the Federal cars
200HP for the Cali cars

All cars in CA are de-tuned.. It is called crappy gas.. ;)

People on this board are REALLY starting to annoy me.. This is just plain stupid.

Dyno #s have always been a joke. Always will. They are NEVER really comparable and a bunch of idiots arguing on the internet is not gonna change it.

PLEASE STOP ARGUING OVER THIS!

I posted this link a while back, but according to the EPA there is only one version of the EVO for the US.

Actually, even though all the emission equipment on all EVOs coming here are probably the same, most are not CA emission certified. I know cause I looked into getting one from Kansas. When I asked the sales guy to look under the hood, the emission label didn't say legal to drive in CA. I looked on the DMV website and then called them to ask what I can do, and they said that as a CA resident I can't register an out of state new car that doesn't specifically say that it is legal to drive in CA. Just saying federally certified isn't good enough for CA. You can register it if you are moving to CA or the car has more than 7500 miles. The sales guy in Kansas told me that a :mitsu: dealer in CA could probably certify it for CA for a couple of hundred dollars, but the DMV told me that's a bunch of bull. They said that only the :mitsu: factory can do it legally. I just didn't want to deal with all that, and bought an EVO in SoCal with a small mark up. I would have had to spend that much to ship the car out here from Kansas anyway. Your other option is to buy the car out of state and try to put 7500 miles on the car without getting pulled over by the cops.
