I don't believe this??
What is up with the :mitsu: dealers in VA. I called practically all the dealerships in the washington DC metro area asking regarding the EVO VII, and 75% of them had no clue they were even getting them to begin with. They had to go ask their sales manager to find out if it even existed. The remaining 25% had a mixed response, some said that the car is coming as early as May 2002 and are not taking deposits until April. Then some are saying that it will be released late summer, as in end of July. There are some dealerships that are saying November, December release taking deposits now. What kind of a game is this??:mad: When I purchased my current car a year ago, the dealerships I called knew clear and well when the car is going to be released. Plus, the one dealership that gave me the run around on a delivery date, I gave them a run around on the price and got a sweet add on from them. But this is different cuz not even a website or anyone of any credibility has stated a clear release, except ofcourse the LA Auto show(jan03) and the so called reliable dates of Motor Trend and R&T. Getting us all worked up into a frenzy on a car that is not really even a 2003 release....cuz this car was released worldwide a whole year earlier. What does :mitsu: hope to achieve by doing this. This is only making them look bad, cuz come next year there is going to be some stiff competition coming from other makes. Heck they got dodge Neon doing 0-60 in under 6, for 20G's, the Z car with the new shape and engine, heck Audi got the RS4 quattro (0-60 4.5) heck the wagon does (4.7)and I can go on and on with the cars that are going to hit the market with a reasonable price. :mitsu: is currently playing with HP figures :rolleyes: and watering down...Come on!!!!:mad:

I don't know why all you people are expecting so much from car dealerships. These salesmen are not car people, they just got sick of doing security at Mervyn's so now they're selling cars.
And since when is the end of July late summer? Last I checked the end of July is the beginning of summer (July 21 or 22). Except for all you Aussies and Sri Lankans, which has nothing to do with America. I'm babbling. Somebody stop me. |
Another thing. This is what happened last year with the release of the WRX. IT was shrouded in MUCH secrecy. I dont think it has to do with Mitsu or any other maker doing a poor job releasing the car. You are just getting very upset over pure rumor and speculation. Sure, there are some people who come to this board, and others, that know ALOT about when the cars will be released. But, noone seems to believe them.
Oh yeah, the Lancer and STi should not even be compared to the other cars out there. As far as I am concerned this is a completely new and separate class for the American world. You are not going to be taking a Z onto snow and gravel are you?! I thought not. Nick |
The EVO/STi, Z and RX-8 are different classes of car but competitors nonetheless. When people are shopping for one of these cars, the others will be competing for the sale.

I feel the same way......My dealers dont know jack..and thats fine..I try to proove to them that other dealers are taking deoposits.....give them numbers to call of dealers that are......they dont want to listen...basically my local dealers have all around ****ty customer service...They act like they dont want to sell cars....like they are to good for a 27+ grand car.....I'm seconds away from saying F'em and going with the new rotary.

You know, there are some us that are perfectly comfortable waiting. I wanted an EVO 5 when I lived in Japan. I wanted a 7 a year ago when I first found out they might be coming to the US, and I am willing to wait another 11 months for it still. Maybe it's just me, but I think the car is worth it. YES, it is a different class of car COMPLETLY. If you don't understand that, you just don't get IT!
Rx-8 and 350z....no comparison. The ONLY USA Comparison will be the STI, PERIOD. 4 doors, Turbo, 4wd, Badass. Not since the Galant VR4 has there been such a beast. Face it, if you wait, it WILL be worth it. Charles:soapbox: |
My problem is not with the wait but with the fact that there are several other people who are also trying to get the EVO in my area. The way the dealerships keep making claims but not taking deposits or putting me on a waiting list is aggrevating. Cuz say if it is true and it does come early, there are other cars out there that have made it earlier then the dates written as a release for them. Now that would suck cuz the first person who walks through that show room and is not a fan or a person who has been camping out at this site for details just picks it up:crap:and we have to wait for another ....I don't know...what 6months for a next shipment:thumbdown:.....Now that is my real concern!
Trust me I do know it is a different class...what I was pointing too....was the availability of cars that are close to the price range and performance on the Dry Tarmac....which will be here in the next upcoming months, with what u see is what you get specs. Which means they will be tearing up the roads before me....U gotta understand my plight mannnn!:mad: |

Come on, give it a rest, it's highly doubtful the cars will be here this summer, emissions alone could tie them up for months (remember the 97 TypeR). The most logical reason the dealers don't know anything is because they haven't been told yet, which means Mitsubishi hasn't layed out a firm communication plan or doesn't know themselves when they are going to be available. I'm personally better on the latter. In any event who ever said you had to purchase one from your local dealer? It's only around $500 to ship a car, you could easily strike up a deal with another dealer who's taking orders and then ship it to where you're at. Personally, that's a lot of unnecessary hassle, so I'd just continue visiting your local dealer and occasionally contact the 1-800 line for Mitsu customer service and probe there. |
Evo VII will not be coming to the USA this winter!!
I just wanted to let everyone know the information that my partners and myself have been told by Mitsubishi.
As of right now, there will be no Evo VII coming to the USA, at all! Mitsubishi is going to be bringing the Evo VIII to the USA Summer of 2003! If you find this hard to believe, just call any Mitsubishi Dealership in the country and ask them when they expect to be getting the Evo. If the dealership you are asking is "In the know" then they will tell you that they have nothing coming until Summer 2003. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I just want to make sure that everyone can get their deposits back, because the Evo VII is NOT coming to the USA this winter. Adam J.
