Don't park the car in gear only...
Funny thing I noticed,
when I am parked on a hill and put the car in gear so that it doesn't roll back, it still does. Not freely but it jerks back a little by little. Seems the gears can't hold the cars weight. Have to avoid putting it in gear without the park break. Thought I would share. |
Why would you ever do that anyway? There's no reason not to set the parking brake.

i do both put it in gear and engauge the parking brake :)

No I always use the park brake, but there are some old time drivers who just leave it in gear....so thought Id inform them if any. |
Also if its in 1st isnt the car not suppose to roll back??
|
also, turn you wheel to the curb so if it rolls, it rolls into the curb. I don't gear it because I sometimes use my turbo timer if I've been driving super hard. You can imagine what happens if you leave it in gear with the TT on...

There is a reason if the brakes are hot and you don't want your pads to stick or transfer material to the rotors :D.
|
I also don't put mine in gear, because I keep the clutch-start switch disconnected, which means I crank up the car without touching the clutch pedal.

I've noticed the same thing, if I park on my driveway to wash the car (it's steep)...it'll creep back with it in 1st gear if the parking brake is not engaged.

wheels facing the curb is always a good idea. I parked on snow on a hill once and when I walked away I looked back the car was going down the hill even though the wheels weren't turning.

i hate it after a service person drive your car, they park the car in gear...I've stalled the car at least 3 times b/c I always park my car in Neutral...after I stall, I want to shot somebody b/c it's such a violent jerk.
