How Hard do you drive you're EVO?

I was just wondering how evo owners drive their evo. Do you guys shift at around 7000 RPM at one point of the day of daily driving? If you do, do u worry about your engine going out sooner than normal? Any input will be appreciated. Thank you

I drive it like I stole it.

ditto, she gets a good beating on a regular, but gets pampered quite a bit

I drive the living Hell out of her. I figure if something go wrong i'll pay to get it fixed, but HAVE FUN you only live once. Sure I take her up to 7000. You can go through life worring about everything, just be smart and have fun.

Gets taken into the redzone at least once everytime I drive the car, but normally baby it in between :D

Whats the point in spending $583 a month on a car if your are going to drive it like it had half the horsepower it has? May as well just get a civic

depends on what kind of mood she and i are in. i usually drive around relatively conservatively.

but i love to flog her when the cicumstances permit. :)

like steveosevo said, have fun, you only live once, and if it breaks, it can be fixed.

I drive as hard as I can legally get away with, which means regular WOT pulls to or above redline in 1st or 2nd. Usually don't go that high in any gear above 2nd, though, because of the speeds involved.

However, I do NOT shift hard like I do at the drag strip, otherwise my car would fall apart for sure. I'll usually rip it through first, then granny shift to 2nd, then get on the throttle again. I'm not racing anyone, so there's no need to shock the drivetrain each time.

I would never hit a girl but I beat the crap out of Evie every chance I get. Keeps her honest. {thumbup}

Exactly. I don't drive it like I'm at the track everyday either.

I take it to about 8700 at least once a day.

j/k, haha.

Hopefully i'll be able to in the spring time.

8700RPM? Uhh, you built or anything?

mathgeek Jan 3, 2006 09:36 AM

I've never taken my car past redline. However, I'll go to about 6500-6800 RPM occasionally, just for the fun of it and if I'm passing some slow-assed truck. A vast majority of the time, though, I keep it under 5000 RPM. I also shift very gently, even during full throttle pulls. And yes, I take fanatical care of the car, maintanance and cleanliness-wise.

i hit the rev limiter every time i drive it.
