Are you driving around with your plastic underpanel?

Just curious....

Warrtalon Jan 5, 2006 06:20 AM

Yes.

oguratevo Jan 5, 2006 06:21 AM

Yup! It has a purpose under the car, keep it on always.

JuancaROD Jan 5, 2006 06:37 AM

I think the correct question should be:

Are you driving around WITHOUT your plastic underpanel?

mooreboost Jan 5, 2006 06:47 AM

I do not have it on.

It's a PITA to work under the car with it.

tah78 Jan 5, 2006 06:49 AM

i leave it on

smoothmarine187 Jan 5, 2006 06:52 AM

Not only does it protect the underside of your car, but it also has air ducts in it that channel air towards your brakes.

does have some effect on aerodynamics as well

The only reason I see people taking it off is because they are lazy :\

It's really not that hard to take off / put on once you do it a few times. I would like to have one of the nice aftermarket ones just for the fact that mine has taken some abuse ;)

mines off, no room to work, and all my clips started to break and plastic was flapping around

x838nwy Jan 5, 2006 07:00 AM

Sometimes I wonder if it makes that much difference. Specially when I drop something when working on the car.

bigfishs Jan 5, 2006 07:01 AM

I drove without mine for one day (as i was still tweaking my ehaust) and it snowed while I was at work. After the drive home, the amount of snow under there was scary. It jammed in everywhere. Big mistake, I know, I am a plonker.

no... better:

but I'd definitely leave it on, if that's the question. It's like wearing a plastic helmet when you go spelunking: it doesn't seem like it would do much until you get to that one sharp rock... Also, it guides air to the brakes and stuff like smoothmarine said...

11secEVO7 Jan 5, 2006 07:10 AM

mine's long gone....mitsubishi and those cheap a$$ clips that used to keep it in place.
i think i riveted it back on once..and then needed to do some work under the car again..so it was always coming off.

no
I hate that MFer , its off in the coner of the shop . The plastic screws are one of the most painfull thing things ever made EVER . But if you never work under your car , dont care about looking for boost leaks.... just leave in on .
