Funny how after we've driven the car, the whole AYC/ACD discussion died.
The USDM VIII with the RS diff's pretty much quieted the critics. I'm still at awe at how this thing handles. I can't even begin to imagine how this thing will handle with ACD/AYC. Given the car's price do any of you Evo owners still dissapointed that it doesn't have it? I can tell you I'm not.

i don't even knwo what that means :D

I've wanted ACD with front LSD and still do.
If the new STi outperforms the evo in both straight line power and cornering i'd bet we'll have numberous ACD/ Super AYC threads :dunno: |

They made a LOT of improvement on the new STi. No I do not miss the AYC/ACD in the EVO... I've driven a VII and I cannot tell any difference really... I'm sure I would if I was to drive on a track all day long, but otherwise, nothing missed... |

Originally posted by Alfriedesq I dont cae what they say - the laws of physics dont lie and they can't be bent - the EVO is a better stopping and handling car - period - - the suby is smoother and better suited for of road a a nier interior |

Also posted by Alfriedesq I dont cae what they say - the laws of physics dont lie and they can't be bent - the EVO is a better stopping and handling car - period - - the suby is smoother and better suited for of road a a nier interior So, why would you have to bend those laws of physics, when those two cars have very similar suspension geometry, width, weight, drivetrain, power. Oh wait, STi has better drivetrain and more power! So, maybe you are right. To make them to be at least the same, you would have to bend those laws... Fedja |
I've never driven an STi but it is possible that the handling would be extremely close with the Spec C "new type RA setup" As of now the evo is hard to beat but only one way to really find out. We are already at a disadvantage with the open diff but the steering ratio, steering geometry and the ability to have less front end lift give me great confidence that the evo will handle better. As of now anything is possible and i'm just going to wait and see what will happen. I put my money on the evo for handling and that's why i'm driving one now :D

things like AYC/ACD sounds cool cuz we like all the technology behind it. But to utilize that technology requires pushing the car at its limit.
For the avg joe they're not performance enhancers, it just gives them more margin of error and a false sense of invincibilty. There're also good for trash talker to other car makers....yeah I got this and that. I think Shirokuma has been saying this all along...wait til you drive the car til you bash the non AYC/ACD issue As for alfriedesq, he's on a planet call pruvenperf...strange that he should be the one to comment on cornering being the dragster/shootout champ with his former money pit STI JDM engine swap...blah blah blah. |
