K&N Drop-in doesn't fit 2005 (?)
 

I picked up a K&N drop-in at the local parts store and went to put it in but it doesn't fit (P/N 33-2105.) I have a 2005 EVO RS, anybody else have similar experience? I took it back and picked up a stock filter at Mitsu that is the right size.

According to K&N's website it should fit, was it a mislabeled box or something? Anyone have luck with another P/N?

I have a 2005 RS and the K&N fit fine....I just got a new intake so I am selling the K&N.........

Try turning it or flipping it ;)

Installation error, the thing was about 25% larger than the stock filter.....I'm assuming wrong part in box....

I bought this filter from amazon and it fits fine. It only took like 2 mins to install. Snapping the airbox clips back on was the hardest part.

Yeah, it was definately a mislabeled box.

I just checked RASTMP's post with his for sale and my filter was rectangular and about half as thick as the one shown....damn Pep Boys.....

i also have an 05 VIII and it fit fine...i cant imagine the RS is different.

the rubber part of the filter should be on the top and "drop in" the lower part of the air box. if thats the way your putting it in then turn it. if it still dosent fit mabye is boxed wrong, i work @ Advanced Auto Parts i've seen that happen a few times but not w/ K&N im not saying it cant happen tho. the Part # for the K&N Air Filter is 33-2105 for the Evo's 03-05 and probally 06

Mine did not fit perfect like the oem on my 03. I did get it to fit without incident. I had the same issue on my 02 Maxima with the K&N drop in except it was worse on that car.

Got mine at Vic Hubbard's and they price matched for $45.

Yeah Pep Boys made the mistake, not you. I have a K&N drop-in for my '05 RS and it fit like a glove.

I took some pics while you were posting. I think you got the wrong part number.

The P/N on my car is 33-2105 and you say that yours is 33-1205, I even post the pic so that you could see it.
