UDSM Evo8's 271hp is based on 98 RON gas?

I just found that USDM Evo8 (and maybe for the ones sold in the rest of the countries as well) requires 98 RON gas and if we put on 91 or so it'll reduce the performance level.

So here's the question, is the performance data including the hp, torque, and the 0-60mph obtain based on the Evo8 will 98 RON gas filled? :dunno:

98ron is not teh same thign as 98octane at US pumps i think 98ron=93octance, like my brothers jetta says it requres 95ron but only 91octane. i think that the RON system is just another rating system

Our pump gas is rated at (R+M)/2... R is the same as RON, it's the research octane. M is the motor octane.

I think every octane rating always has RON higher than MON. So if you havae 93 pump gas here the RON will be over 93. How much so depends on the gasoline.

I believe, if you look in the Evolution Owner's Manual (what a concept), you'll find that Mitsu recommends a minimum of 91 octane and, for best performance, 93 octane. Those octane numbers are U.S. pump octane numbers and represent the average of RON (Research Octane Number) and MON (Motor Octane Number), i.e. (RON+MON)/2. The difference between RON and MON has a name: sensitivity. In the U.S., sensitivity is almost always less than 10. So, as a rule of thumb, you can subtract 5 from a RON recommendation to get the U.S. pump octane number equivalent.
