I just can't see myself "downshifting"...
I can honestly say that life without the Evo is difficult to conceive. Every time I think that I might want to replace it down the road with something more tame (Honda Accord EX-V6, Buick LaCrosse, etc) that is less expensive to buy and maintain, I always conclude that there really is no going back. I just can't imagine settling for a cookie-cutter car when I've been spoiled by the Evo, as long as I can afford it. So at this point, I'm convinced that I will always drive an Evo (or something comparable). Anyone else feel this way? Is there anyone who thinks they could be happy with a Honda Civic or Toyota Camry after owning an Evo? Or is UP the only direction to go for everyone?
|
I would only be happy with something totally different.
I enjoy the evo becasue of its performance and handling. If I were to get a car with lower performance, that is supposed to be performance directed, like for say a civic SI, I would be disappointed. Though if I were to get a Prius I would be happy with the purchase. Becasue I purchased the car to save gas and it does it quite well. I guess it is all a matter of how you view a car, and what it is to serve a purpose for. |
hmm depends on what u have, and what you done to your car, and can it be daily driven or does it just get you in trouble, these cars are great but trouble in a lot of ways. My buddy went from an E36 M3 to a honda civic. just because he needed a daily driver and because he was gettin in 2 much trouble with the M.

well i also have a 64 impala and its just makes my evo seem even faster!!! You tend to get used to the speed after awhile...
|
i have no problem going to any other tuner car. You can make anything faster and perform better or as good as any evo. It's because the EVO is the best bang for the buck car.
|
I would get a WRX again...definetly not a friggin LaCrosse tho... shoot me...
|
I got no problems at all, in fact my friends with Civics got even more speeding tickets last year than I have ever gotten in all my driving.
It all depends on how you drive. |
maybe as a winter beater

i struggle with the thought a lot, considering how expensive the evo is (related to my income, and in general being just a car). if i had to downgrade i don't think anything could possibly put a grin on my face like the evo when it comes to performance, but there are plenty of lesser priced cars that offer more all around for a lot less. for example (don't flame me for this) the new civic si - decent performance with plenty of potential. strong build quality, cheaper to own and maintain, cheaper insurance, in dash nav, etc.
do i want to downgrade? never while i'm in the car, that's for damn sure. will i? probably when i start thinking more about a house/wife/kids and all that comes with being a bit more responsible (unless the money starts flowing). |
Yeah, it's hard to go backward...
I came from a mildly hopped up E36 M3 to an Evo. I had initial concerns about build quality and fit & finish when I started looking at them...and that whole German car owning, the world is beneath me attitude (Quick: what's the difference between a BMW and a porcupine?). But once I drove the thing...wow. Didn't take long to pull the trigger. I could see going to an E46 M3, but it is a different car, and a definite amount of commitment is to be made to make it as tossable as the Evo...I think at this point from a thrill to drive aspect, to get more for the money, that would be very difficult. I think for me, Porsche's new Cayman will probably be my next stop...on my way home from the lottery office. Oh, the answer to the question above is: the pricks are on the outside of the porcupine. |

Aw man no way... better off keeping the EVO and working a second or third job... IMO |

I cant see myself selling the Evo. I might just save up some more money and buy another car. I will keep this Evo as long as I can because I spent too much money on it and its a blast to drive.
