Help! Car Won't Cold Start
Help! My Car Won't Cold Start.
It happened when I had some idling issues coming from a stop, the car stalls, and eventualy the engine shuts down. When you start the car up the engine stalls right away, you have to give it some gas in order for it not to stall, but when you left off the gas, the idle drops and stalls right away. Checked all my BOV Receric connections Greddy Type S (Single Spring Mod), checked for loose hoses, and checked my HKS intake for loose hoses, everything is good no loose hoses. What I did was adjust the idle via the top screw located at the top back of the TB. The problem was solved, no more stalling coming from a stop, solid 950rpm idle all the time. The problem I'm having now is that the car won't cold start, you know when you leave the car overnight or for more than 4 hours when you start the car it will idle to about 1400rpm and settles back to the desired idle which is 850-950rpm on most EVO's so that it can warm up and bring the engine to the desired operating temepature. Now my car doesn't do that anymore, you have to give it some gas so that the rpm won't fall off and stall the engine, but after that when driving the car it won't stall on me solid 950rpm idle all the time, and when you shut it down and start it back up, it runs fine and idles at 950rpm. The problem only arises when engine is cooled off, it won't cold start like before bringing the rpm to 1400rpm to warm up the engine, you have to give it some gas or else it will stall. The other thing I noticed is that the fuel pump is loud, I can hear it outside of my car like a humming sound. |
Could this be a UTEC issue?
|
I don't believe its a UTEC issue, it's probably a mechanical issue, but I cannot be sure what it is.
Anybody has any ideas? Dirty Fuel Pump? Dirty Injectors? Anybody? |
cams? ecu fuse? utec? check the fuses?

it could be that your fuel pump motor is failing...
i've seen this happened before on walbro. but the noise is fairely normal. The loud noise. I believe the fuel pump noise is normal as you have it in your car longer. |

too much air, not enough fuel to cold start, take the BISS screw back to factory, about 3.5 turns from all the way in and try it

But when I set it back to factory the car won't idle, you have to give is some gas so that it won't stall, that is why I raised the idle a bit so the rpm's wont' drop and stall the engine. |
I had the same prob with my GST with -6 fuel line, fuel pump, and AFC, I never did fix it :(, just temp solutions playing with the biss and the AFC settings, I thought I was overrunning the Fuel pressure reg. with the extra fuel. Wish I had a defiante answer for you, but I didn't figure it out.

It sounds like your IAC motor might be freaking out

^ take it off the TB then clean all the gunk off with carb cleaner, get some elec. contact cleaner and clean the harness plug and contacs on the IAC
|
^yep, and be careful with it.
