Are Evo 9's 50 State Cars ?
 

My current car comes off lease in May and I'm looking to replace it with an Evo IX MR.

I went by the local dealer and they told me "We only got two of those for the entire year and they are sold". So I looked at the sticker for a "standard" Evo IX and they had a $3999 "market adjustment" on the sticker (and a $600 paint treatment)! So I need another dealer, I guess.

I looked at some of the threads on this site and some web sites for some dealers in California and it looks like MR's aren't that hard to find (plus their prices were pretty good). I have two questions:

1) Are Evo 9's 50 state cars ? i.e. are all cars imported to the US the same or are there "special" California cars with more restrictive emissions?

2) Am I likely to find an MR in May or do they sell out early in the year?

The factory cat and muffler pass ca emissions, the same way they pass va emissions. find another dealer who actually wants to make a sale and im sure they can find an mr for you, o and dont pay that b.s. markup.

Hi Roger my name is Roger too. Here let me refer you to a dealer its called south coast mitsu. They can sell you a 06 mr for 36995. And a 06 evo 9 for 28995. I knwo casue i got mine there. They even have deals on shipping and will also ship your car to your location. Its u to you. When I went there to buy mine they had around 30-40 evos. They have every color and trim you want. Just pick one out. Go to their website you can google it. And talk to a guy nmaed Mike shriner and tell him Roger in san diego sent you he will hook ya up.

O and I almost forgot when I got my car it had 6 miles on it and it just came off the truck meanign it stil had the foam and plastic on the seats and the blue tape all over it. I was the fisrt to sit in my car. No one ever test drove it which means no one ever got to beat on my car.

36995 is too much... you should be able to get $1K off of that easy... MarkSebby on here sells evo's too and he had them at like 2-3% over invoice a couple months ago... shoot him a PM and see what he can do...

Yeah it is a typo cause on the site it was 36995 I knwo cause I looked at it and when I went there the sticker said 36995 too so maybe you changed prices or something. But damn if I woudl have known that then I woudl have gotten the mr hahahaha. Can you do trade ins MAARK?

So how are you guys when it comes to trade-ins? Do you give a fair trade in value like suggested through the Kelly Blue Book? I’m looking to buy a new MR in the next 2-3 weeks, but I plan on going to a local dealer first. If I can’t get what I want I then I’m going to look elsewhere.

dont pay over msrp for an new evo

the evo 9 mr is not a limited edition model , so you dont have to worry about mitsu selling out. they will make as many as people will buy

Thanks for the replies. My current car was purchased in California so I don't have any problem going there to buy a car. Boise is a small market so the dealers get away with a-lot.

That's weird. I got an MR priced to me lower than that, but a base IX was more expensive. Dunno how their selling a base IX for $29k when that's below invoice.

You can get at or near invoice in St Louis if you wanna make the drive. I could refer you to 2 different dealers. They might toss me a round of drinks if you buy, that's all that is in it for me.

Yes well they are and they do it everyday all day. This dealer moves 50-70evos every month to 2 months becasue they have 3 locations throughout la. Also all their evos are below invoice. I know cause I looked at at least 15other dealers and they just cant beat SOUTH COAST MITSU, they cant even come close ot their customer service, they dont take care of their cars like SC does, and SC has a evo performance shop right next door for your convenience, also they have connections with banks that other dealers just dont have, so if one dealer told you no they cant sell you a car SC WONT! They are only about 1 thing and thats making the customer happy even if they lose a little money.

So if you want to save money call south coast mitsu today and take a evo home.

I will tell you from my personal testimony that I went to SC skeptical but let me tell you I was in and out with a brand new evo in less than 1 hr. My car was in prestine condition and I still to this day love it! SC was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Hell, at those prices you better give this guy a call.. I thought I got a great deal getting mine at invoice but this is unbelievable...

Question though: Aren't you the guys that were making out of state buyers pay CA sales tax? Then they'd have to turn around and pay tax again in the state they were registering the car in? If that's the case, then this really isnt much of a deal unless you register the car in cali....
