Anyone who DOESN'T MOD?
Searched and searched but the key words are just too common.
Anyone out there who DOESN'T MOD AT ALL? I'm on the verge of buying a brand new IX and I guess I'm a "kitty cat" when compared to most of the members here. I'm coming from the Scooby side of things and I can actually attest that I don't launch, race, track nor auto-x my ride...it's my one and only daily driver and I need her to perform any and every time...yes, I drive her aggressively when it calls for it but for the most part i pick and choose those times wisely and meekly. Are there any members out there who think similarly? |
IMO its hard to NOT mod an Evo. but i guess i understand where you're coming from and you want to be conservative with your car. so far my car is bone stock and i enjoy it. but it wont be stock for long any time soon. besides, stock has a lot of power anyway, despite the fact if you're a HP freak! :D
and yes i do think similar.................sometimes |
the thing is once you start modding, it's hard to stop. i thought i was gonna keep my car stock but nah... i got hit by the mod BUG!!!
|
Keep it stock if your not going to go to any track events. The evo is a great car out of the box. What's the point in spending money if your not going to use it.
|
There are lots of people who don't mod their evo's...but more than likely, they're not on here. people who don't touch their cars are usually not the type to come to car-specific internet forums. They drive their cars to and from work, and do nothing else with it, and have no need or desire to learn more about their cars, and have little reason to sign up on an internet forum. The people who do care to learn more and modify are the people who sign up on these forums to learn more about the parts they wish to install, get tips, etc.
So, yes...they're out there..just not here. |
Thanx for the responses. I guess the more pertinent concern for me is: if I know I won't be launching, racing or auto-xing my EVO (which has somewhat of a correlation with the desire to mod the darn thing) I should probably expect a fairly reliable and worry-free ownership right?

My last evo was modded and I plan on staying stock for awhile on the new one. It really is a great car out of the box.

Its hard to overlook, that you can get up to 330whp with the ix for only 1.2k.
That is a big jump for such little money. Also those mods wont hurt your cars cuz all you running is a tbe, higher boost and a flash. I mean I know I couldnt pass that modding option up. |
I just picked up my new evo (its a 2003 but i got it with low low miles and the guy who owned it must have barely driven it cuz it still feels new compared to my friend's) It came with some mods that mitsu didnt mind and i have my warranty. HKS Intake, HKS Downpipe, Perrin UIC Piping, Perrin BOV.... Other than an exhaust I can't think of much i can do that wont void my warranty. Ill probably get the HKS Carbon TI and other than that only cosmetic stuff (yellow looks sick with CF hood/trunk) and sound. The car is ubelievable and i love it. Its great stock or nearly stock and im happy that i spent 2 grand extra on the 100000 mile warranty. If it was bone stock, which I was expecting when i went to buy it since I didn't know it had a couple mods, I'd still be more than happy. It's an awesome daily car.

I pretty much have the same mentality as Fittest. I haven't done anything to my car other than tint the windows and replace that antennae. I also use the Evo as a daily driver and never launch. The only out of the norm driving I do is a bit of speeding and taking a few corners once in a while. I don't drag race anyone because I think it's pointless, illegal, and boring.
Having said that the car has never given me a problem mechanically. I know some people who bought theirs around the same time I got mine and have modded their cars and launch regularly. Most of them have problems on a regular basis and complain that the dealers give them a hard time :P |
just get agood flash for the car. increase hp, torque and get better gas milage. You cant loose with a quality flash.

i dont mod, 05 white rs here, im an evo owner on a budget, but hey at least i have an evo! that makes me happy, all i have is a catless catback exhaust with stock downpipe and without any tune or ecu flash, im gonna stay that way for a loooooong time, i do drive it daily to and from work (at least 60 miles a day) and i drive it in the evenings for fun (yes i have no life) but i come to this forum to learn about my car, to find tips and suggestions, so in other words im doing research, hoping that one day i can get the money to work on it myself
i dont trust any mechanics as they've proved theirselves in the past to be more stupid than me, i've had mechanics not tighten engine/exhaust parts on my previous 350z! that really pissed me off. but anyway, im an evo owner who doesnt mod, but i will later in life, most likely after i pay my evo off |
