I'm thinking it's a t-case problem, do you?
 

So i'm getting this groaning/vibrating sound from t-case area. Here's how it goes.

I drive a 05' with ACD btw.

When i'm driving straight or turning right I have NO sound.
When i'm driving straight and then SLIGHTLY turn/jerk the wheel left I get this horrible groaning/vibrating sound come from the transfer case area.

What happend is I hit a low curb. Let say the curb looks like a V. The bottom of the V went under the passenger side between the front/back wheels first and then the bottom of the V grabbed the backside of the driver front tire and ripped it outwards and broke the axle. It slightly hit the passenger front/rear tires.

So I got the car back on the road and driving by replacing the driver side front axle and control arm. After taking if for a ride is when I noticed that horrible sound i'm hearing in my right ear. Because i'm hearing this in my right ear I think maybe it's my passenger side wheel bearings/hub assy so I replaced those. Well the problem is still there so the next step I took was replacing the passenger side axle. Well guess what, the problem is still there. All the parts were replaced with brand new Mitsubishi OEM parts from the dealer.

So after TONS of research i'm coming to the conclusion thats it's my t-case. But what i'm not getting is what part inside the t-case is causing the problem. I came up with a couple of ideas though.

1. Is it my front Diff?
2. Is it the front Diff carrier bearings? <- This is what i'm leaning towards
3. Is it something else i'm not seeing in my journey for the cure??

I need some help here guys.. Anyone with some answers or ideas would be great help to my situation. :confused:

Take your car to get looked at. No point in driving it around like that and taking the risk of causing more damage.

I took it to a very reputable DSM shop and the only thing I got out of the 3 weeks it was there is **** on. They charged me for 2hrs at $115per hour out of 3 weeks and the only thing they told me was, "um it could be many things". Then blew smoke in my ear saying it was this and that which didn't make any sense. It was very obvious they didn't do jack **** to fix my car.

So now i'm frustrated and pissed and looking for advise on the forums hoping someone can help pin point the problem or maybe someone who has had my same problem in the past.

I would suggest putting the car on lift and give it a good visual check of the under carriage area. Pay close attension to front diff housing for crack as well as the transfer case. If no visuable damage can be found then put the car on a dyno. You may want to also remove rear drive shaft to confirm that the rear end is not part on the problem. Good luck and be patient.

I put the car up many times and found nothing but the normal. Nothing is leaking, no cracks, everything is in tact. The shop I brought the car to said they put it on the dyno with someone under it and didn't have **** to say. In all honesty I don't think they ever did that. They jerked me off better than a I can myself. You brought up a good idea with removing the rear drive shaft but it's VERY obvious it's coming from the t-case area.

I think its obvious that something got tweeked inside the tc. Of course a dyno pull wont show anything, it only occurs when you turn. Last time I checked you cant turn the steering wheel on a dyno.

Nothing short of ripping apart the TC will prove if there is a problem unfortunately.

If you baught it new then take it to mitsu, and if they dont find any thing wrong with it then let it go. once it does brake for real then have mitsu cover it!!!
