Mitsubishi's advertising sucks!
I know this is probably old, but I need to speak my opinions. I am a proud owner of a Yellow EVO. First one in Prestige at Turnersville, NJ. Now that the EVO is out why is there no commercial or even a newspaper ad for this thing? How come the 350z and even the Crossfire had coming soon commercials.? They could at least mentioned it in the paper ads. What ticks me off is that it is already out. Subaru I think had a better campaign with the WRX. When most people ask me what car I got and say Evolution or the EVO they have no idea what I am talking about. But of course they know Viper, or Ferrari. And when most people see it they say it is nice but have no idea what kind of beast it is and how long awaited it is.

No ****. You would think since this car got so much hype online for coming to the States they would have some marketting campaign that would spank some ass ! ! !
|
And this is a bad thing because......
The less people know about the car the better it is trust me. And :mitsu: doesen't need to advertise the thing, people like you and me know what it its and what it can do, nuff said. So just enjoy the ride and don't worry about how they advertised it. {thumbup} |
Why would you spend your advertising dollars on a product that is essentially pre-sold? MMNA will sell everyone of these they bring in - should have done this years ago.

Actually :mitsu: announced that a commercial with the EVO integrated into it (i.e.0 not the only, or "star" vehicle in it) will air later in Spring. The EVO is a niche market car that is expected to have a halo effect. Not a mass market car like the Z and the WRX.
Peace. |
That has been a topic every since the beginning of Japanese imports in the US. Many makes and models are under advertised and therefore not well known.
I do agree that Mitsu should at least put a few commercials on TV and other media means. They did a great job at the LA autoshow for the intro with special guests. Few other cars also comes to mind for lack of publicity..... |
in reality performance cars dont make money, majority of the time is only for the company to say that "we can do it"
i dont even think the eclipse makes money.......maybe WRX did |
i dont want to buy sell out cars, its ****ed up

They should hire me to do it. That's what I do for my job. :D Maybe they can throw in a free evo. {pcfreak} |
I hope that they never advertise it or have dodge advertise my lil neon. It keeps the rarity up. But that wont stop me from going to the mitsu dealer and ganking all the Evo advertisements....hehehehe
|
Its simple. You advertise a product to help its sales. Last time I checked, there wasn't a need to help Evo sales, since most are going for AT LEAST MSRP. Why would Mitsu waste money in advertising? I'd rather they use that money for Ralliart or Evo IX design.

Enthusiast cars are ussually advertised through word-of-mouth, the cheapest way to advertise.....especially when the production numbers are low or limited.

seriously though...when the wrx's came out all the new owners were pissed off because people came up to them and asked if that was the new Altima/Honda/Daewoo etc etc. Even with my 2000 Impreza RS non turbo most people think its a WRX because its blue and a subaru witha wing. Many people barely know what they are driving let alone others.
Most people in this country drink folgers coffee and bud light. (NorthWest bias here...land of lattes and microbrews) Evos are different and not known and that is an awesome thing. To me they are like those strong beers in Australia and Britain we cant get here and now finally they are being brough in....although to a largely ignorant population. I remember back when i had a Galant VR4 no one knew what that was...most thought it was a Camry. One guy on the GVR4 board got hassled by his relatives with questions like.."Hey i thought you had a good job and were doing well...whats this 80s camry thing?" not kidding....speaking of GVR4's though...theres a great video on their board of a GalantVR4 pulling away by several car lengths from a Viper on the freeway. just some rambling mike |
