Help. oxygen sensor won't come off.

Is it safe to use PB nut loosener on the oxygen sensor? Or can that damage it? I can't unscrew the thing.

Use PB around the contact area, use 1 open ended wrench and one closed to get more of a leverage.

I'll try that, thanks.

I had the same problem it was a betch to get it will come eventually

PANGES Jun 16, 2006 05:31 PM

I had a problem with that when I was doing my testpipe, I used a screw driver to take off those clips so I get more length in the wire first, then I pull the cat out from the passenger side of the car till I have enough room to actually stand the cat upwards. Then I put an open end wrench on the o2 sensor, and used my BFH (Big F*ckin Hammer) and hammered on the wrench and the o2 sensor slowly unscrewed out. Worked like a charm :) Remember, if brute force does'nt work... then you're not using enough of it. {thumbup}

Deadblow hammer.

mitsuorder Jun 16, 2006 05:35 PM

let the car run for a bit, not too long, give it a try, don't burn yourself :thumbup:

PANGES Jun 16, 2006 05:38 PM

wont the heat make it worse because the metal will expand? Mine was pretty warm when I did it though...

EvoRicer Jun 16, 2006 05:46 PM

WD 40, let it sit for a few mins, use some muscle and you have a loose O2 sensor...

VtecGSR952000 Jun 16, 2006 06:35 PM

can you fit an 02 sensor socket on it?

PANGES Jun 16, 2006 06:48 PM

they make o2 sensor sockets?

VtecGSR952000 Jun 16, 2006 06:54 PM

Ya, they are great! have a small groove cut up one side to allow the wiring through and the contact all sides of the sensor. Very nice! I think I picked one up at the zone for 5 bucks.....well worth it!

EvoRicer Jun 16, 2006 06:55 PM

It's impossible for a socket to take off an O2 sensor...even if they made a Socket for an O2 sensor...there's no way to get the socket on there unless you cut your wires.

OK.....if it is impossible to use it then why would they manufacture it? :confused: I have used it numerous times with no problems. If you dont have one and havent used it you cant really make a good judgement about it can you? {thumbup}

Stop making assumptions if you have no clue.
