Anyone else's evo IX seem a little sluggish?
Dont get me wrong, our evos are not slow, it just takes it a little while for them "get out of bed". once it builds up the boost it seems alright. It only has 5000 miles on it. Does anyone else have this same problem or is just me? my car is completly stock

If you did get a bad batch of gas you may want to try resetting your ecu. Maybe try a new gas station, check your boost to make sure you don't have any leaks, etc. |
my friend, it's time to mod your evo...
|
You are used to the power, it's time to mod. You will also get used to the mods even though you swear you won't after you do it. I'm putting down 340 to the wheels on my 9 MR and I'm used to it. Hopefully I'll be happy at the 400-420 range because I don't think I want more than that on a somewhat daily driven car.

i had the same feeling... until i took my friend for a ride (who by the way knows what fast is cause hes got a sick as buick GNX) and he was amazed at the speed and almost pissed himself. he was like "damn this thing has got some power" and i was like really, i dont notice it anymore. but i learned that once you get to a certain point then your body and mind get used to that power and you start to think that its normal to be this fast. so yeah time to open her up a bit more.

I was thinking the same thing. My car felt faster when I got it than it does now with a few mods, to me anyway.
Then......on Monday I gave a co-worker a ride home who had never been in my car. As we crawled in traffic he thought the sirius radio was great, liked the mean sound of the exhaust, was checking out the V1 location etc. When traffic freed up and we came to a short straightaway I nailed it through a couple of gears. He kept smiling and laughing and muttering cursewords to himself the rest of the way home. Kept asking me how much I paid for the car and kept shaking his head. I left him in front of his house in the middle of the street watching me drive away. I guess to someone who drives 99% of the cars out there we do have a wild ride. {thumbup} |
Have you taken it out on a cool night in a while? It makes a big difference. These 90-100 degree humid days just zap the power. Intake temps higher, and the intercooler isn't as efficient. I also just read that IXs have an intake temp. sensor that the VIIIs do not. I wonder if the ecu pulls timing or something.
Heat is like ..........http://www.crystalinks.com/superman.crypto.jpg |
My car's power fluctuates some with humidity and air temp. But when everything's right (gas, air, humidity) and and the steering gets squirrely from the torque and the wheelie effect... I'll never get used to that. I've found the limits to my mod bug and I'm just into fine tuning now.

i just took my evo on a test run and it was sluggish today...it seem to lag a lot and didn't run like it suppost to but what more can i do its 90 degrees out side and its humid, the car was acting up like ****...oh yeah its still stock!!!, time to mod big time for me....

the recent heat sucks up all the power :)
|
prob b/c
1. heat 2. are you running AC as well? 3. you're prob used to the power. Go drive your friend's car for an hour, then get back in to the Evo. You shouldn't be having problems running stock, unless you got bad gas, or your timing is getting cut back.... |
It feels sluggish because of this damn hot weather. I can't wait for winter! :)
|
Yeah i feel the same way, but sometimes IMHO the evo does feel like it ate its wheaties!lol
|
It feels slow because you are used to it & you are driving. Try having someone drive it while you sit in the passenger side & you will love your car all over again. I had a friend of mine drive my car while I am at the passenger side & I felt all that power.
