Besides the STi, what is the EVO's closest competitor?
M3? 911? Skyline?
|
M3 maybe at least on dry land. As far as rally goes, there is not one out here (right?) Ford is bringing there RS out here, and that would be a rally type car, but still not in the same class as EVO or STi. I imagine they will do shootouts between the M3 STi and EVO, maybe audi? Im not sure there will be any American cars to compete directly though. Unless the rumors of Pontiac rebadging a WRX are true!

Oooh...now that'd be a shootout...
but Pontiac rebadging a REX!? Wow...I know they work with Toyota at least on the Vibe (Matrix) but also to collaborate with Subaru on a Rex? Eeeks...sounds a tad far fetched. |
I would sya the only competition that will be in the same price range (M3 and M5 are way more expensive) would be an old Audi Quattro. You know those 5000lb beasts ;-) from the 80s. There's even a video out where they compare the Audi with the EVo 6. Ithink that's TOP GEAR.
You can find it on the EVo CLub Italy page :mitsu: |

*shudders...* that was a head trip and a half reading that...I don't even wanna think about it...

didn't you know all about how gm buys up small companies to steal their technology and ruin them by gm-izing them
|
hey now, I'm from GM Country (Mid-Michigan), and know hundreds of people that work there, and not only do they buy smaller companies and make them homogenous, they also treat their own employees poorly!
Did ya hear the rumor about the Chevy Cavalier that will be a 5 cylinder turbo based of a Saab engine?...GM now owns Saab too, but the subaru collaboration is far fetched at best... what was the question? oh yeah, I agree with the 5000cs Quattro as being a closer competitor, the only street car besides the WRX that will be an evo competitor is an S4, IMO twin turbo awd pile of steel though |
I know TOyota is working on a youth brand!!! GOOD Luck

Pontiac is considering the GTO.. so uh check motortrend.com

i think the yugo gvx 1.3 liter 4inline 64 hp 74lbs of torque
this a speed machine.haha   |
An M3 would be close. How about the Le Car? Hehehe. I saw one with one of those greedy cantloupe launcher exhaust. I think the guy spent more on the exhaust than he did acquiring the car.

maybe the M roadster?

i think once VW brings their 4motion to the jetta and gti, people will look at them for more luxury and all season performance. Although the perf. #'s won't be very close, the pricing and luxury will give VW a head up.
BTW, are we forgetting about the 330xi? that thing hustles to 60, is all-wheel drive and much more luxurious than the sti or evo. granted it won't win any races against them unless modified, it's still something to keep in mind. :karate: |
Yes...the Jetta will be a good competitor, especially for the tuners, with a plethora of stuff for the 1.8Turbo and the VR6, a 4 wheel Jetta would be sick, But again, at best it'll be stuffed with Audi parts and be an S4 with different body, I think the rally experience with the EVO puts it leagues beyond anything but Rex. I want a sick Peugot like the one on Grand Turismo!!!!BLAH@!!:karate:
