won't boost to 1.4 bar at 3 4 5 gear
ok these few days I was pulling the car hard and notice that at wot at 3 4 5 gear, the car won't boost up to 1.4 bar. but when in 6 gear the boost will go up to 1.4 druning wot. at 3 4 5 gear the boost stays at 1.1 bar. :confused: whats going on. did some search, can't find anything close to my problem. please help. check the car everything is good. should i reset the ecu??

The Boost is supposed to Taper, somayber in the Lower gears your gaining rpm too quick and cant built boost fast enough to reach the Peak boost. Possibly you have a Boost leak. I reach Peak Boost if I pull at like 2700 rpms in 2 at 3000rpms in 3 and 4 and 5 6 pretty much any time i WOT it if i am Above 2500 rpms, car is stock The peak boost of all gears ist at 3500 rpms, but the Rpms i listed are the highest rpms i can start the pull at to reach the peak boost by 3500. My freinds Electric blue evo, He has a TBE and IC piping and Intake w/ a tune from AMS and a Profec b-spec II tuned to 23 psi, pretty much anytime you give it wot it shoots up to 1.4 to 1.6 bar. So its realy different from my Stocker, I did a Second gear Pull with him and he just Took off Like a Rocket.

ok. because if i was on high way the boost will reach 1.4 at 6 gear no matter what rpm range and stays there, but when i pull at 3 4 5 gear the boost will go to 1.4 and drop right down to 1.1, without going to redline.

if i have a leak 6 gear pull won't stay at 1.4.

IF you Peak then Drop That normal, part of the taper. You do not have a boost leak. Your car is fine.
FYI boost leaks don't change your peak boost level, but change the rate at which you build boost. |

Good luck with your car man, If you going under the hood, just make sure your clamps are tight, you know the Ic pipe problem, use a 10mm socket.

be careful when racing with the MR. the 4th gear is weak and can brake if your shift hard at high speeds. i guess that it has started happening alot with the MRs, the 4th and 6th gears are weak. i broke mine and now im getting a custom built 5 speed to put into my MR from ShepTrans.com........ just a heads up.

It doesn't typically break from shifting hard. It breaks from the teeth weakening over time due to excessive heat and the breakdown of the fluid. I had over 250 drag runs with 200+ of them including 3-4 powershifts (as hard as you can shift it), but I didn't lose 4th until I was road racing and passing a car in 4th. 4-5-6 are all small and weak with tiny teeth.
I also moved to a custom 5spd from Shep. |
i was wondering if is normal to hit 1.3 at 1st gear?? i think my car never peaked at 1.5 before. is that normal?

It sounds normal. I hit 1.4 down to about 1.2 at redline. No aftermarket boost controller.
