Why don't my Defi BFs stay set???

I just installed a set of Defi BFs....

First off they are ridiculously hot.

Second, I know how to set the warning of the gauges, but whenever I turn the car off it seems to lose the setting so it goes back to 1 bar as a default. I hate boosting and having the thing beeping when I go over 1 bar so can anyone explain to me why my settings are not staying after I turn off my car?

Thanks in advance,

-Aaron

How did you wire the control unit? Start there. Just like the radio and clock, if it isn't getting juice it loses its settings...

You more than likely tapped your Defi's Controller power wire (red) to a switched 12 volt source. You need to tap it into a constant 12v source.

Damn, my friend did the install for me. Is it hard to go in and tap it to another source myself?

No, get out the radio and switch the red and orange wires placement. I had the same problem..for 5 minutes...

OK I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks a lot :)

Does anyone feel like being nice and explaining what to do for me? If you have pictures that would be even better.

I know **** about cars and my friend installed this for me so I don't know what I'm doing. I don't want to screw up my car :(

Did your friend tap the wires into your radio harness? You will need to check three connections on your Defi Power harness. Black goes to ground. White is switched power for the gauge lites. The Red wire is connected to constant 12 volt source. If you pull your radio and look on the top of it you should see a wiring diagram that shows what each wire is for. Follow those back and tap into them behind the main plug.

Eggy,

That is a unique issue with the wiring. Your wiring is not properly done, you are not holding the memory because one of the wires is not being feed by the permanent accesory wire.

I do have Defi BF imperial on both of my Evos and I also accidentally did the same on one of the installations. Your equipment is not faulty your wiring is the issue.

Haha ya man we've figured that out :) I just hope I am able to fix the damn thing myself.... It would be nice if there were other evo owners close by :(

Thanks a lot!

Guys, my radio is in the bottom panel. Do I have to take off the hvac controls/trim to get out my radio?

ak47po Nov 5, 2006 06:34 PM

There's always an answer. No you just take out the two screws that hold the radio trim and that should be it. pull the radio out far enough to unpluge the harness, there should be enough slack.Your welcome.
