Hey, I was wanting to order some 3000K yellow HID's to replace my fog lights in my 2003 evo.. Does anyone know what type of bulb the fog lights are?

Looks good! I was also wanting some yellow fogs...I might have to do it now.

I actually hate the yellow look. I know fog lights are supposed to be a different color but I cant remember a time that I've driven my EVO in fog. I swapped my stock bulbs for the bluish ebay ones ($8). They match my HIDs perfectly and provide quite a bit of ditch lighting compared to HID low beams alone. Since we have HID lows that stay on when switching to highs I think it would be smarter to get HID high beams. A friend has them on his vette. His high beams are like aircraft landing lights! They just take a second or two to come on full strength.

I think the yellow fog is the JDM thing, i saw plenty evo setup like that in asian countries...
|
Are the high beam bulbs H11 as well? Maybe I will buy another set for the high beams.. I hate driving at night heh.

don't really need HID... H-11 yellow halogen works just as good. also when you run h-11 hid in the fogs, it gets super bright, almost like another high beam .
this is mine w/ halogen yellows: https://www.evolutionm.net/registry/...-yellow2-m.jpg |
I always thought that HID's gave out LESS heat than halogen bulbs...?
|
HID's give out way less heat, they run at about 30 watts, as opposed to halogen which run about 55 watts for a standard headlight bulb. The difference is that HID's need a step up transformer to run at 36 volts instead of 12.

He didnt say anything about running hotter .. he said its BRIGHTER ... English comprehension ftW ...

Actually.. He did a ninja edit... Don't try to be a jack ass GinuwineEvo8.

I said "brighter", not "hotter". HID"S need a ballast(step up transformer) to bring voltage up to 36 volts:
HID- 35 watts @ 36 volts Halogen- 55 watts @ 12 volts In case you think I don't know what i am talking about, I currently have changed the HID bulbs in my evo, and have a write up on evo-m on it. I have (9006) 6000k hid's in my 2000 accord I had 6000k in my s-10, also 3400k sylvania foglights, and had changed the headlights to super clear for hid purpose. I had 4000k hid's in my civic. I've been running aftermarket hid's in my car since the first kits came out. evo is the first car i have had w/ stock hids. |
Takes one to know one ..
