Well, after quite a bit of research, i finally got my defi gauges.

I went with imperial Boost, Oil temp, and Oil pressure, as well as the greddy sandwich adapter for the evo 9 ( i guess Greddy revised them).

I am going to try and install them this week and i had a few questions:

1) I tried looking for good write-ups on how to hook them up electrically, but it seems that the links are all broken. Do you guys know of any? I just wanted to know what you guys used to tap into for the four wires. I am putting them in a tripple console pod, so i am assuming the wires that i tap are going to have to be relatively close to that area.

I dont know what to use for red, (constant 12v supply), or white (small lamp).
Orange is 12v with acc on, so i can use the cigarrete lighter element for power.
And lastly ground. (where did you guys tap for ground around the radio?)

For boost source, what are my reference points besides the FPR line? Are there any others? It just doesnt seem safe as that is not a place where you want to risk a leak.

I would steer clear of the Greddy adapter. It causes the filter to sit too low IMHO.

AT the stock ride height, i have plenty or space, especially when using the short filter element.

I just installed some Defi Blue racer gauges to replace the stock mitsu gauges. Very pleased thus far.

When mitsu hooked my boost up they T a line off the FPR to the manifold and it holds pressure fine and has no issues with leaking.

As for Oil pressure talk to 42 Draft Designs they got a really nice adaptor that goes off of a fitting located next to the oil filter that you just hook the transducer into the fitting and the fitting bolts right in. You will need an allen wrench to remove the screw thing in their. Just use some quality grade teflon tape and ensure that you get the BPT fitting for the defi's. It also looks like they have an adaptor for the temperature sensor.

As far as wiring I used the wiring from the stock gauges which I did not see the source but I believe it came off the radio. The tech used a separate ground source that directly linked to the chassis up behind the DIN. As far as illumination never used it.

So you dont need to tap for illumination? What is it for then? So i only need to wire up 12v constant (red), 12v acc (orange), and ground (black)?

Tap in the radio harness.

Hot 12v - red wire in the middle of the harness

Ign 12v - blue with silver stripe next to the hot 12v wire in harness

Small lamp - green with silver stripe in harness

Ground - just use one of the bolts behind the radio that goes straight into the chasis.

Make sense?

I dont have them but the illumination probably dims the guages slightly at night.
That makes sense thanks man. I dont even want them to dim so i will not tap for that.

Heres my advice, do yourself a favor and no matter what wripe-up you use, hard wire (soldier) your electrical conections. Those t-taps and other solutions are temporary solutions, they will work loose over time and you guages will flicker. After about 5 practice wires, you should be able to soldier two wire together pretty decently...

Uh...you can change the dimness of the gauges with the control unit. You can make it just as bright in the night as in the day.

Really? Usaully those type of clips hold pretty good. I just dont like to solder because it is pretty permenant. I solder twice a day usually, if not more on customer cars, i just dont like doing it on my own, haha. ill give the clips a shot and if they wiggle loose ill solder them in. thanks for the advice.
