What's the deal with Autometer Nexus Gauges?

You can change them to light up in 7 different colors
Have peak, hold and warning features
You can check what you levels were at: 2000-4000 and 6000rpms
Comes with a remote
Has a matching digital wideband

What do you guys think of them as compared to the DEFI's. Seems like they offer more then DEFI, but may be a tad bit more expensive.

Two favorite features are:
1) I can check my levels at 2000 rpms, 4000 rpms and 6000rpms
2) It has a matching wideband (That is a real wideband not the $40 autometer one that just has a sweep of LED lights and does absolutely nothing)

look like they've got some great features but they kinda have the rice status with the color change mode eh i like the defi's better.

I currently use them. I wanted something different from the DEFIs. They are expensive just like the DEFIs too. You can insert an SD card and log, or you could replay what you recorded through the gauges. Being able to change the color of the gauge is also nice to be able to see the gauges better during the day. I have found them to be accurate too. I am very happy with them, but like I said they are expensive.

I just got rid of my defi`s for these. They are really nice. I leave them on white/red so I don't use the color shifting. VERY accurate (better than my defi`s) I needed a good 60psi boost gauge is the main reason I switched, but I'm glad I did

I thought about that too. I only use two of the colors, red and white. White for the day and either for night. I think the other colors are rice too, especially the setting which changes through all the colors continuously.

No control box needed for the prosport and they look hawt.

No comparison. Prosport are cheaply made and can only be expected to perform adequately at best.

and I believe the autometer nexus boost gauge have some sort of 3bar sensor **** or something. fancy stuff. I'm definately going with these later down the road since defi doesn't stand behind their product.

I was considering these gauges for a while after selling my first Defi setup, and decided not to go the Nexus route after much deliberation and input from the owners of these gauges.

First, the name Autometer alreayd kills it for me. These are the cheapest gauges around, and I know a lot of people don;t want to put down money for good gauges, but I care abouit knowing what's going on, so I'll pay for the best. The Nexus are electronic and as expensive (sometimes more) then Defi BF's...but I can't see myself buying Autometer even with the high price.

Next, I PMed numerous evo owners with these gauges for their opinions...not one person failed to regret their choice. All claimed the gauges froze and malfunctioned all the time, and were constantly 3-4 psi off. After contacting Autometer's customer service, who luckily acknowledged the "bug" and said improvements were on the way, most of the owners did not want to wait for the fixes and I believe a few of the poeple I spoke with got Defi's after.

To be fair, the newer gauges must have the glitches fixed, and I think all the little add ons and options they have are cool....but HONESTLY, WHO IS GOING TO USE THAT CRAP? How many people are HONESTLY buying these to use the SD card saving feature? Logging with a laptop is so much mroe accurate...and if you can afford these gauges, I KNOW you can afford a laptop.

I think anyone who is considering these gauges should think about what is PROVEN (Defi).

I'm not a fan. I personally feel they look kind of cheap.

I deal with Autometer a lot and as of late their quality control has gone to sh*t. THey used to be good but, in the last 2 years since they were bought by an investment company they only care about the bottom line. We use the Ultra Lites not the Nexus. That said they are all made in the same place and QC'ed by the same people.

I can't remember how many times I've had oil temp gauges that read up to 50 degrees hotter than they should, shift lights with the polarity reversed, tachs with wires pinched through the insulation internally, fuel pressure gauges that read up to 3 PSi off (0-15psi scale). Bottom line lots of problems lately.

The nicest gauges I've seen lately are from Racepak.
