2G's need suggestions on what to get...
OK i got about $2000 saved up and would like some input on what I should get next...
Heres what I got: 04 Evo8 255 lph fuel pump greddy FMIC /w lower piping K&N drop in filter short shifter tein springs HKS BOV Hallman MBC Things I'm thinking about: Agency Power Ti Catback Excedy stage 2 clutch Window Tint front bumper splitter HKS 275 Cams What ever suggestions you have, I would like to hear them. Either +1s on anything I have listed, or if you think I should hold out and save more, just feel free to chim in on this. Thanks |
I would say to a whole tbe, cams, and tune. I guess it depends on what you want looks or power at the moment? Another question I guess is your clutch still going strong?

Cams, Intake, Alky/Meth, Clutch, Tune
|
^ I think the clutch that suggestion list a little over burget. If your clutch is good then i would say dont worry about it. Cams, Meth/alky, and deffinitly a tune and a dp with some custom 3 inch exhaust is the cheap HP way to go. One thing to think about though is if you start modding other things are going to break, AKA the clutch will start to let go so if you cant afford to replace it when it does let go(not in any way saying you cant) then you might want to either A- do some modifications that will help hold the power down the road example the clutch now and do power mods later, or just wait and save more all together.
Good Luck. |

tbe and clutch. Definately tbe will free up a good amount of power. But like someone else said, you can always go for a less expensive tbe.

lol. When I said clutch, I really meant cams.

The current mod list is god awful, and the future list is way over 2k and pretty awful as well. You have limited budget but are going to buy a titanium cat-back instead of getting a full TBE? That right there makes my stomach churn.
255 lph fuel pump - yay, but not sure why you have this and not the other stg1 mods that it goes with greddy FMIC /w lower piping - why in the world? Hopefully you upgraded the FMIC only because the stocker got damaged, but even so, a Greddy FMIC would be way down the list of FMICs tein springs - horrid springs of destruction HKS BOV - awful, awful, terrible, and awful Hallman MBC - best mod on the list ---------------------------------------------------------- Agency Power Ti Catback - awful choice on a budget. First of all, it's Agency Power...come on! Secondly, it's only a cat-back, which is 10-15whp, and it's titanium, so it costs $800 maybe? A very good TBE (e.g. Buschur) will make 30whp and cost the same amount. Excedy stage 2 clutch - good clutch, but did you do the math? Window Tint - whatever floats your boat, but did you do the math? front bumper splitter - lord have mercy... HKS 275 Cams - no such thing? 272s maybe? GSCs make the same power for $100 less I suggest these mods: - BR TBE - GSC S1 cams - A _PROPER_ BOV such as the JDM MR DV, EVO IX DV, Forge Evo15 DV, or Forge RS DV. Sell the HKS - Hello, a tune? Why isn't a tune listed anywhere? It's useless to do all these mods without a tune - Sell or throw away the Teins and put on your stock springs or a set of good springs (Robispec, Swift, Works, Espelir GT) The above will use up most of your 2k |
Thanks for the suggestions everybody. I'm kinda torn between making more power now( ie. tbe, cams tune), and being able to use that power(ie. clutch). I live in Richmond VA and we don't have any good tuning shops here.
No one but the dealer wants to do the clutch job for me cause of how hard it is... How do I know if my clutch is going or not...I don't launch it, and when I do get on the gas, it pulls freely. I got around 25k miles. I got those mods cause most of it was used and I got killer deals on them. I am leaning toward making power right now so TBE, and cams sound good. Warrtalon: with the GSC S1 cams, will I need to up greade any retainers or anything, or can I just drop them right in? Should I do head studs while im in there? PS I didn't mention a tune cause I thought it was common knowledge when it comes to evos |

Should I do head studs while im in there? you shouldnt need valve springs or retainers for the S1 cams, S2 cams need both, i would put them in since you are already there, but since you're on a budget do whatever head studs not so much, unless you plan on turning up the boost...im not sure at what point head studs would be needed id say around 24-25lbs and greater(thats just a guess) good luck |
