Rideing in someone else's Evo

i just wanted to here from you guys, your experience rideing in other peoples evos,
have you listen to their cars and hear that their evo sounded differant as far as clunks,up shifting, down shifting, or any weird noises. i rode with a another evo owner one satuday night and it sounded a little rough, but he drives it hard too,
when i got back in mine, you can tell the differance between an abused evo vs a none abused evo. keep in mind i don't want say anything bad about somebodys car, its to compare, if anyone was to have a problem you can tell of you got somthing going on,by compareing the same year car etc...

i can kind of see what your saying ive been in about 4 evos and driven 3 of them and they were all completely different they ranges from one that was really smooth to more of a clunky ride like you said.

My GF's and mine are very different due to the LSD. Keep in mind im on Full coilover suspension too. Though my car is 100 HP faster I can enter a corner in her car way faster and break way later.

They both shift the same.

driving in camless evos makes me want to take mine out asap and take the power loss just for the driveablitly. and then take out the exedy twin disk, but its the price you gotta pay.

I agree that you can notice a difference. Autocrossed with a guy one day -- we both had '03s with no engine / drive train mods.

He pretty much "beat" his EVO on a regular basis (in fact, he blew his power steering pump during the autocross).

I babied my EVO.

I had an opportunity to ride in his car and in my car as a passenger. Result?

His, while still in good working order, sounded like a POS in comparison to mine.

Based on my experience I'd say it's safe to say that the better you treat your car, the better it will sound.

What's also interesting is that he had way more autocross experience than me and my times were better than his. Ever watch a professional behind the wheel? Ever notice that the best drivers are the ones that are smooth, patient, and graceful in their actions?

Sure, you may "feel" cool when slam through the gears and jerk the wheel in your desired direction, but also remember that smooth driving almost always equals faster times. If you want an action movie, watch an action movie.

I've had 3 different EVO experiences, one of which I was the owner of. 1st EVO I was able to test drive had been beaten to death. It had a serious vibration problem everytime the vehicle accelerated. I would've put it down if I could have. The 2nd was the one I owned. The clutch had to be upgraded and was miserable driving in daily traffic after a while and it came with an HKS SSQV which always made the damn thing bog or die. My 3rd was my buddies EVO with a stock clutch. Smooth ride, shift, accel, braking, etc. Even the turbo back exhaust sounded sweet when going into boost (Mine still had the factory cat installed). The car has been tastefully modded and well maintained, which has really made a difference. Fun as hell to ride in too.

thats just the caliber of people out there. some take care of their stuff and some dont. I treat my car like i want it to treat me. you have to have a lil bit of an understanding between you and the car.........LOL

been in buddy's evos but we all take care of it. older gen i guess is what it is........

I have 272's and as far as my cams go they are no different driveability wise than riding in her bone stock car. Just have to dial them in. Unless you have Juns or Revolvers
