Couple Q's Evo IX
MODS
-HKS intake and exhaust cam's 272 -Titanium valve springs and retainers -ARP head studs -Warlbro 255 -Greddy M-spec Intercooler & LICP -Megan racing 02 housing -3" turboback exhaust -boost controller set at 1.6-1.7 bar -ARP high flow fuel rail -750 cc injectors (going fpgreen later) -port and polished head (intake and exhaust) -Tune 'STOCK' -stock intake and exhaust manifold -stock clutch (brand new) -Stock intake with drop in K&N filter -Stock recirc valve Is it ok to keep stock recirc valve and clutch with these mods? |
is it ok to keep the clutch and recirc bov? um ya investing in a tial would be a good move um the clutch as long as it holds your kinda confusing though
|
-Can stock clutch handle more than factory hp what's the max its desighned for.
-Does it matter if i stick with the recirc bov for higher boost levels |

Why would investing in a Tial be a good move when his stock metal DV is holding the boost he is putting out just fine? If you dont go around launching on the stock clutch all the time, it will last you awhile. |
Exactly the answer i was looking for...
I have a turbosmart dual stage bov and was scheptical if wether or not to install it so will stick with the metal recirc bov... |
turbosmart is probably one of the worst bov you can put on the car, unless you love flutter and garbage driveability
the stocker is more than adequate |
Am interested in Safe reliable extraction of horsepower have done my best so far to make my engine tougher with titanium valvesprings and retainers aswell as ARP headstuds.. the pshhh ricer sound I couldn't care less about..so stocker bov it is...
|
How would you know if you're losing boost with the stock metal? You're going 1.6bar and the way i know you guys here, i'm sure you gonna peak 1.8+!!
So, why not invest in a Forge RS or Forge Evo (both are recirculating, one is adustable and the other is spring set).. I dont think there's need to change your clutch but surely keep the next one handy! Good luck.. Wael FPGreen? You're gonna have trouble keepin up with my 50Trim! :-) Why not the 3065? Read this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=299275 |
^ will look into that bov.. first things first Wael, I will enjoy the power I get from these mods then get a bigger turbo then enjoy that..why go big when I can let my car evolve... after all it is an 'evolution' ;)
|
keep an eye on that stock clutch!
i just have a TBE and tune on my IX and if i launch hard i can feel it slip a bit towards redline. i don't drag race very often, i am pretty much strictly autoX, and i take it very easy on her on the street, but the stock clutch just doesn't hold higher horsepower levels well. it will last you a while if you take care of it, but eventually it's gonna go, so be prepared. |
Guys, is it necessary to upgrade to 750cc injectors with the stock IX turbo and the above mods? Or should I wait for the Green before doing so? Also, what would be the safe max boost with the stock injectors?
|
What fuel do you run on?
100RON is about 94MON, 23.2-24.7psi sounds little high on no meth/race gas. |

No, it's not necessary at all. Stock injectors work fine with the stock turbo. You can check your Injector Duty Cycles while logging the car, whoever is tuning the car should know how to do this. If they dont - get another tuner. I would say 24 psi is the limit unless your running meth, and you can't run 24psi without being tuned to run that boost level so dont even think about it. NOTE: No experience with your fuel, I use 93octane premium unleaded here in Texas. But your fuel looks like it has more octane. What spec evo is it? USDM or JDM or EURO? |
the fuel here is 94 octane and planning to run 23-24 psi boost
USDM What is the recommended fuel pressure to be set on a fuel pressure regulator at idle? it's currently set at 3.2 bar |
I dont know, I dont have an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator.
