Sun roof won't slide back
as title says, it will not slide back!! well, it initiates, it moves little bit and won't move.
checked it from the outside and it appears that rubber seal around sunroof won't roll under the ceiling. does anyone have similar problems?? it's 2003 and parked outside during work. will appreciate any input. |
had the same problem a couple of times. try tilting the roof first a couple of times and then open up the roof. have an 03 as well.

i believe there is a tech/how to on fixing that problem
|
Same thing happened to my 03...the sunroof wouldn't slide back and you could just hear the motor spinning and spinning and it got stuck a couple times too, but after 20 mins of grappling with it, i pulled it forward and will never touch it again!

strange my 03 sunroof is working fine all though i barley ever tilt it or open it
|
This subject has been covered before. Try lubricating the rubber piece.

I had the EXACT same problem within the last week. If you remove the headliner (see the write up in this forum) you'll most likely find that the motor is about to fall off. There are three screws that mount the moonroof motor to the roof of the car. Mine was barely hanging on by one loose screw. The other two had completely fallen off. The griding sound you hear is the motor unable to grip the gears (because it's loose and not able to align correctly) that slide the moonroof back and forth. A number of people have had this problem. If you're willing to go throught the hassle of taking off the entire headliner and reseting the motor, that should fix the problem forever. The dealer (or any shop) will charge you at least 3 hours labor. It took me about that long. It was worth it. If you decide to try it, you can PM me if you need any more info and I'll be happy to help.

BTW, I originally posted in this thread in response to the individual who experienced the grinding motor. I'm positive that HIS problem is the same one that I had. Your problem may be different, though, and hence my suggested remedy may not work. |
I had the same problem in my '03. Seemed to occur more often in cold weather. I've had problems with every sunroof I've owned. Don't think I will get one again.
