Fuel cutoff switch?
I searched for this already but can't find anything...
Long story short, I spun my evo last night and hit a curb. Nothing is severely damaged and everyone is alright, but the car wouldn't start afterwards. I'm thinking it's because I may have tripped a fuel cutoff switch...but I haven't been able to confirm that: 1) there is a fuel cutoff switch on the Evo IX 2) it could get tripped by inertia 3) where it is located. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm hoping that this is the only problem and that I didn't damage something internal. Luffy |
I do not beleive there is one, although I may be wrong. I know some cars obviously do have them to prevent fires and everything, but I am not positive on this one.

bump. any help? come on guys!

I know there wasn't one on the Evo 8. I hit a tree square doing about 80 in reverse and the car started up just fine right afterwards.
Yes, I needed to start it in order to move it about 5 feet so I could get out of the car (it was wedged in between 2 other trees). Will your car turn over but just not run? If this is the case, then another possibility would be the lack of spark. |

Wow. May i ask why you hit a tree doing 80 in reverse? I didnt think the car would even go that fast in reverse... I know a guy who got pulled over for speeding in reverse... haha. He was doing 50 in a 35 and being an idiot. He drove on IX MR until he totaled it.
Ended up looking like this: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/at...7&d=1096230767 https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/at...6&d=1096231683 https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/at...9&d=1096231851 |
Oooh, okay. I thought you mean you were driving in reverse out of choice... glad you are okay.

Meh, that was like 3 years ago. I'm fine. I've owned 2 other Evo's since then.

I wiring diagram I found in someones post either here or on socalevo does not show a cutoff switch.
|
so is there an inertia sensor or something that would have detected the impact and caused the ECU to not allow the car to start?

In fact, once the car was in the scrap yard, it still started up. Have you determined if it is spark cut or fuel cut yet? |
No, I'm going to have a mechanic look at it first thing in the morning so I'll keep you updated! Thanks for the response!
|
Check it yourself for spark cut. Also, if you've got any kind of dataloging capabilities, you can check it for fuel cut (via injector duty ycle) as well.
|
I found it. The wiring diagram was listed in this post.
http://www.socalevo.net/index.php?op...&topic=35791.0 Maybe you can trace the fault back with that. I cannot find an inertia switch. |
Hmmm...goodluck dude. Please post the update because i am curious myself.
