So my transfer case whines pretty bad......all gear all the time. Well, it isnt as loud when driving under 45 as it is at, say 60. But, when ever I take some one that has never riden in an evo for a ride, they tell me how cool it sounds!! haha, they all tell me my car sounds sweet, and im thinking " yeah it does sound cool, too bad its a 3 thousand dollar broken part", then all I get is damn......

Just thought it was kinda ironic.....

Any other bad t-cases out there?

If he's buying a new TC from shep the cheapest is $2400. So he may be looking at 3K.

Send it to Shep for a rebuild.. think 400 bucks???

Maybe, but then you have about 16 hours labor @ about $80 per hour... soo

$1280.00 plus maybe $1800.00 for a rebuild of some type is still over $3000.00 not knowing if he can do the work himself

I heard if the ring and pinion are bad then you will need a new TC. Not sure if this is true though.

Edit new ring and pinion = extra $1200 on the rebuild.

Looks like the price will depend on what is broken and what level of rebuild. Anywhere between $350 to $2500.

400 bucks is to make your good tcase stronger. Once it starts whining its done. Your looking at least 1200 dollars for a new ring and pinion if thats the issue and shipping both ways. Also the OP looks like he has an 03 so he should also add the RA LSD for a few hundred bucks more. It may be better to just pay 2775 plus shipping for a new tcase with the lsd in it already.

mine is whinin pretty bad and leaking all types of oil and dunno where its leaking from -_- its everywhere!!!

I took out my whining tcase and now have a quiet one installed. Thinking of upgrading the spare one i have.

Yep, time to send it to Shep. I just got mine back from Shep and installed this week. I of course had to get a new ring and pinion set. It is so much nicer now not to have that damn whine all the time, and of course I can race again just in time...

I borrowed a busted one from a local DSM/Evo shop and sent it in, so when it arrived, I just had that same shop swap out the freshly built one for the busted one on my Evo to avoid downtime.

I would send it to shep for a rebuild for sure thats what i plan to do if my tc or trans ever went out, it's funny cuz my buddies tc whining sounds like there are cops on our tail a few cars back and I occasionally look back jus to be sure lol
