IX'S With Timming Belt Noise
So after My car hit 22k miles, I started hearing a weird noise comming from my timimng belt/pulley area. Its kind of a sound that comes from a roatating motion. U hear it every half second. It seems to go away once the car gets warmed up.
When the car is cold started u dont hear it at first. Give it 2 minutes than U hear the noise. It starts to become louder, the noise goes away once the car is fully warmed up and driving. I still havent gotten a chance to take off the cam gear cover to check it out. My car has 26k miles now. Anyone have this problem with there Evo? Any ideas? I'm thinking about taking it to the dealer but I do have a few mods on the car. Just bolt-ons but no cams, I already got my tranny warranty voided and I dont want to risk the engine warranty. Any input will help! |
yea i have this same problem, except i only have 15k miles and it still makes the noise even after fully warmed up. it sounds like its coming from the pulley, and i wanna get rid of it!

Check out this thread
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...=IX+belt+noise I ended up spraying some CRC belt conditioner on the belts. It made more noise for awhile but went away about 4 months ago and has not come back since. |
my buddy brought his evo ix for a belt noise too few months back. we ended up replacing the timing belt and the noise went away.the mitsu warranty dept asked for the belt to be sent back for sure, the claim got paid so they must of found a problem with it.
