RPM's stay high with clutch in!?!

Hello,
This is kinda random and im not really sure if this has been discussed before. Anyway sometimes when im in first gear and i floor it through first gear and then push in the clutch all the way, my RPM's stay up high instead of going right back down to idle. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? If my statement is unclear i will try to rephrase it. Thanks for your input{thumbup}

Search "Throttle Hang" theres a bunch of threads on here about it. Somewhat common EVO thing :D

yes it's normal.. basically the engines/ECU's way of getting the extra fuel out of the cylinders since you were demanding fuel at WOT then immediately push in the clutch the fuel injectors are still firing at WOT trims and slowing down.. resulting in the rpm's to stay up getting rid of that fuel you wasted..

thanks guys thats exactly what i was looking for. It always bothered me when this happened however i assumed it did that for a reason due to all the technology and electronics incorporated into the evo. Now i am aware and i dont need to worry that something is wrong with my beloved car!
