AWD and E-break?

Ok well my 06 evo mr is my first all wheel drive car that i have ever owned and i am used to driving fwd cars and was wondering if using the E-break will screw up my transmition or something for drifting pourposes or just playing around.

kkarim Jun 24, 2008 03:41 AM

the ACD disengages when you use the e-brake, but still, get used to pressing the clutch while using the e-brake...

QwikEVO Jun 24, 2008 03:45 AM

*sigh*

drifting.

Tallen Jun 24, 2008 04:06 AM

Ugh when will this drifting thing go away. Don't bother, its not cool.

QwikEVO Jun 24, 2008 04:22 AM

Next question from him is going to be how to disengage the front diff so his Evo can be RWD.

Pulling your emergency brake lever will disengage the center diff in your transmition. So its pourposes are apparent.

EvoJoeIX Jun 24, 2008 10:31 AM

if you want to drift, get a 240 or something....
these cars arent made to try to drift

By the way, whatever it was you were doing in your FWD i can guarentee you it wasn't drifting.

Speaking of e-breaking, when I Autocrossing I tried using my e-break on a tight corner to whip my car around, and when I pulled it hardly anything happened. Is this normal?

currahee474 Jun 24, 2008 10:36 AM

What about for rally purposes?

EvoJoeIX Jun 24, 2008 10:38 AM

are you a pro rally driver, with a factory rally car, getting paid to race of rally courses???

dont think so, so dont try it.
anyway, rally cars are built for what they do. they have hundreds of thousands of dollars of R&D, parts, ect in them. you cant compare what they are doing to a normal street evo

Your rear brake pads could be going..because I got Hawk pads front and rear and I pulled my e-brake the other day and screeched tires while it whipped in a circle. Will never do that again...

Typical douchebaggery attitude. No I never claimed I was...however have you ever participated in a rally-x event? I will be next month and was wondering if using the ebrake to better rotate the car would be okay.

If you don't have anything constructive to add to a legitamate question, stfu and gtfo.

tripperfx3 Jun 24, 2008 10:58 AM

I wouldn't use the E-brake in the Evo on anything but sand/gravel/snow/etc. I've never done it, but I only would to help prevent damage. As far as your Rally-x event goes I think you'll find it quite easy to get the rear to rotate by either shifting weight or just powering through it.
