Disappointed =[

I just bought an autometer c2 boost gauge
https://www.nolimitmotorsport.com/2/autometer-7159.jpg

and i was extremely happy with it until it showed me where I was boosting.

12 PSI =[

Im going to datalog the car over the weekend but im still upset. My car is stock except for exhaust. Im planning on adding a mbc soon so Im hoping if anything that will fix my boost problem. Im also hoping the gauge is just off because my car feels really quick to be at a 7 psi loss. Until the weekend though I wont no so Im just sad for now. Any quick ways to check for boost looks?

Have you checked all of your intercooler hoses?

For what it's worth. This is the 4th thread this week I have seen with people having issues with Autometer gauges. You get what you pay for.

I hope you resolve your issue.

I've got the carbon series Autometer and works like a champ, I've been using Autometer for every gauge I've ever had and never had a problem. I'd def check for boost leaks first.

I have 5 Autometer Carbon series and they are all spot on! You could have a boost leak like others suggested, or you could be missing the inline pill that goes to your wastegate. When i swapped out new vac. lines with my new boost controller I got 12psi. found the pill inserted it back inline, 22psi all day long.

im rocking an autometer phantom boost gauge...and it works GREAT! hope you find whats goin on...keep us posted!

CBRD_Caleb Jul 24, 2008 04:17 AM

probably not the gauge... I'm going to guess that your vaccum lines are not correctly connected to your solenoid... swap them and I bet you'll be back in business. FWIW, you can order the entire boost line set from Mits as one part number... kinda cool.

+1 AMS highly recommended Autometer to me...they weren't big fans of Defi especially for the price. Mine works great.

Racers have been using Autometer for decades, I personally have ran them on multiple vechiles all with great success. There is nothing wrong with the brand. If you want to go spend 3x as much for another brand good for you, have fun with that.

When I saw the name of the thread I was certain it would be about warranty :P

There's no need to spend 3X more for a great, accurate gauge. VDO makes a very reasonably priced, fantastic product that acts as the reference standard in German cars. You know, low-end marques like Porsche and BMW.

I don't think it's the gauge either. I have a Prosport gauge and I love it!! I work as an Instrument Tech so I had the standards to test my gauge. It's dead on. So sometimes the whole "Get what you pay for" doesn't always apply.

redboosted05 Jul 24, 2008 07:00 AM

well 12 psi is wastegate pressure..so make sure you check your MBC if you have one and check all your connections-JOEYD

I agree, I'm not saying there the only brand to buy. I'm just saying you don't need to spend a lot of money to get something that work correctly.
