So I got only 115miles on my first tank (and a question about Vishnu's XEDE)
 

I got only 115 miles on the first full tank on my EVO (11.6 gallons
of CA's 91)... That seems very very low to me... Is this normal for
a new EVO??

I admit I am heavy footed at times trying to break-in the car
properly...

Also, any XEDE owners here? I've heard it leans out the car and
saves some gas (not to mention more power).... Is it worth the
money?

wow thats low I reached the 600 mile mark and im getting 23.4 MPG on my EVO even on the first tank I got 23mpg But then again I do alot of freeway driving and I shift at 3K just cruising and 70 on freeway

AHHHH... I know why the super low mpgs... :)
I installed grounding wires and had to disconnect the
battery which zero the trip meters... DUH!!!

You can expect to see an improvement with the XEDE. I had a unichip(ancient piggyback :lol: ) on my WRX and I got an extra 75 miles to a tank believe it or not. I must note that it was a lot of highway miles commuting. Shiv will chime in here and let you know for sure.

How badly rich do our cars run stock?

It has been reported to run below 8:1 up at the top....

It's supposed to be 12 or 13:1, right?

i dont think the XEDE leans out the fuel map at all, all it has is timing map changes.

The XEDE is capable of leaning the A/F. I think Shiv tends to shy away from that when tuning. AFAIK, the stock maps do lean out a little to varying degrees. My conversations with Shiv would lead me to believe that he tends to err on the side of keeping things fat and rich like they came from the factory with the intent on keeping a nice margin of safety.

The EVO runs pig rich from Mitsubishi, it is costing you significant power, fuel mileage AND the sooty black exaust can stain the bumper cover on our cars as well as make drivers behind us think we did a DIESEL engine swap based on the smoke show!!

The Works ECU upgrade defintely leans the car out to a more sane level according to dyno run results (w/ AF ratios) posted here by their customers... and still well within safety margins.

I have been waiting around to get my ECU done until WORKS or someone else's upgrade can control boost levels too, but I am getting tired of waiting!! HURRY UP GUYS!!

HUAT?!?!?!?! I'm shifting at or below 3K (sometimes 4K) and I'm getting like 10 mpg or some **** like that. I burn up gas so fast, it's not even funny. I'll check again. I remember when I was breaking in the car, I shifted at 2K in order to barely get 18 mpg. I'll try again...

Yikes, I have an SAFC and I get about 19 mpg

Your gas must be poisoned or something. When I broke my car in, I kept it under 3000rpms, and I got 21-26mpg like that.

i was getting 20mpg with 50/50 highway/city driving, hopefully after safc it will be better.

FWIW, our XEDE maps do enlean fuel substantially, just not as lean as some would expect. With both timing and boost being able to be tweaked, we can afford to be conservative on fueling. Tends to keep things cool and more stable when conditions get harsh.
