Who's Gonna Keep Their EVO Forever?

i don't post much since becoming a member here in 05, mostly i read and just read

im into this fantastic, super handling, super fast EVO for over four years now, before the EVO i went thru cars every 6-12 months, i guess non of them were are fun as the EVO.

Two more years and im gonna turn the BIG 40.
im saying to myself that no other car can replace my EVO in fun, so im gonna just keep her forever.

who's gonna keep her forever?

03 original owners chime in, your in this longer

yeah, well until the XI comes out :)

hrmm CZ9A doesn't leave many letters for future models..

possibly... i've resisted the change to the IX and X thus far... unless the XI/XII just completely blow me away but even with that said i don't think i'll ever let her go.

I have no plans to part with my Evo VIII. I picked it up in April 2003 (two jobs ago).

As parts wear out or break, they'll be upgraded. As long as the aftermarket is able to supply quality parts, I will keep buying quality bits to keep the car performing at a high level.

My only serious concern is body rust. The Mitsu paint is serious garbage and I have occasionally (well...actually frequently...well...just about whenever I look) found rust in strange places (under the wing bases, crash bar brackets, anywhere the thin paint was chipped, etc.). Maybe a quality re-spray is a necessity in my future? $5k scares me...unless it was for an engine rebuild!

Bought my evo new in September of '03 and with the amont of money I have put into it there is no way I will ever get rid of it. I am still having alot of fun with it even after all these years!

jaysonmyfeet07 Jan 14, 2009 04:33 AM

i hope i can keep my evo for life!! i have NO intentions of gettin rid of her whatsoever

Never been one to buy just because a new model or version comes around for anything. I had been a Rally fan for a couple decades before the Evo arrived in the U.S. and being one of my favorite cars and something I could aford it was a no brainer for me. Original owner since March 2003! :D

She now shares the garage with the only other car I ever bought new (for myself), a 3000 GT SL purchased in January 1992. :p

i would rather "not" sell my evo, but sometimes situations arise that it mkaes more sense to sell it (3 deployments to iraq) i sold my 03 before i went on my 3rd tour came back and got my 06 9. i sold my 1 to buy a 3 and then sold my 3 to get a 4 then sold my 4 before i left the island to move to the states. so am i keeping it forever? sure.. as long as forever is,lol

Probably wont let her go, but that doesn't mean I wont buy another toy in the future.

If this is ANY proof of me keeping my Evo 9MR: I am also the Original Owner of a: 1989 MITSUBISHI Starion ESI-R. Both cars will be with me FOREVER. When I buy a new car, it is spec'd the way I want it because it will be staying with me as long as I am above ground!!

I would like to think I'll keep mine for many more years to come. Bought new in '05. Just turned 33k miles and going strong.
Being from Jamaica originally, I've been in love with the EVO since the very first GSR hence, my intentions to keep this one for as long as possible. Being over 40 myself, most of the people I know that are into cars say I am the oldest person they know that love fast imports:lol::lol:
To me the car is a dream to own and drive and I will continue to enjoy it til I go blind or cripple:cool:

+4 years of ownership and 97k miles and I'm in the same boat.

I've thought about replacing the EVO with a new car several times because there are/where a lot of good deals out there. but it comes down to the fact that I don't think I would be as happy with any other car for a daily driver/weekend racer as i am with the EVO. I think that is what has kept it in my garage and kept me happy for so long.

evane Jan 14, 2009 05:52 AM

i've only have my evo for 6 months but have wanted one for years! i'll have it forever!

Joshs EVO Jan 14, 2009 05:52 AM

Put too, way too much money into the EVO and it wouldn't be worth it to sell. Sold my bike about a yr ago that was paid off tons of aftermarket stuff and now I regret selling it. Regretted selling it as soon as I saw it drive by my house with someone else on it.

I won't do that again, no more regretting.
