What's in your tool box?
Ok guys, I believe I've put together a pretty good assortment of tools, but I know of a few I would still like, and others I would recommend.
Favorite tools: ratcheting wrenches (best tool in my box) Deep angle wrenches (perfect for taking the stock exhaust manifold off, the craftsman is a 12/14mm too so both nut sizes on one tool) 1/2" socket adaptor for cordless drill (makes taking lug nuts off a snap). Dewalt electric die grinder with carbide burrs. Absolutely the best tool you can get for porting manifolds Interesting but somewhat useless tool: fiberoptic bore scope. Only once has it helped me determine a motor had more damage then the leakdown test showed. But the head had to come off anyway, so the problem would have been spotted regardless. Tools on the want list: ratcheting tap and die handles, and extensions for the taps (I hate having to pull o2 housings off when the downpipe bolts strip. An extension with a ratchet would be sweet. And yes, I have tried every socket I have, none fit the taps perfect. What favorite tools do you have? Anything to make those specific job on the Evo easier? |

The more tools the better!
I have a good assortment of air tools that I couldnt live W/O, like my mAc mini 1/4" air ratchet. My favorite tool is my electric impact. Good things to have are adapters (1/4 to 3/8 to 1/2) Also love channel locks for some reason lol. And definitely love vernier calipers. So quick and accurate. Also its really nice having swivel sockets in the three main driver sizes (1/2 3/8 1/4) nudie pics various extensions are a plus too. |

Lisle makes tap sockets just FYI part number:: 70500, I think. Should be about $30 for a whole set. Otherwise I couldn't live without my 3/8 impact swivel sockets and my ingersol 3/8 cordless impact. Sounds ridiculous but I couldn't do anything without them anymore lol.

power probe w/digital readout.
saves so much time on electrical problems. |
DVOM ( digital multimeter) is definately a plus to have and you can never have tools, its the little things like pick up magnets, picks for connectors etc

Dad's homemade slide hammer, huge crowbars, lots of ratchets and sockets, drill, clamps, and my favorite tool........breaker bars.........ohhhhhhh yeah..........

I have a set of Link brand positive locking ratchets and extensions as well as speed style spinners and adapters. keeps everything together until I want it to come apart and works with all regular sockets and are 100% compatible with all other brands of socket and ratchet tools.
#1 tool/ chemical would have to be anti-seize! No matter how many times someone says "I'm not gonna take it apart again after this." I have seen many parts need threads retapped or hardware replaced that could have been prevented just from using anti-seize correctly. Josh :usflag: |
