why do people do this stuff to there evo's?
 

Im just curious as to why some guys buy a 30-40k car and do stuff to it like paint parts of the hood scoop on the new X's or take headlights off and bake them or put strange body kits on them? Or even paint the mitsu symbol black or red? I understand to each his own but this stuff makes me not want to own another evo because of the ricer factor. Isn't this something that highschool and college kids do to there honda civics and chevy cavaliers? Does anyone agree with me? I mean its impossible to find a nice used evo that hasnt been ragged on and turned into a 2 fast 2 furious mascot.

Because it's theirs and not yours. If someone was doing this to your car, I can understand your concern, but they are not.

Should everyone do exactly the same thing? What would make one car stick apart from the rest?

They are enthusiasts like you and I, and they have their own tastes.

What gets me is how quick other Evo / Lancer owners are to criticize other members cars and tastes. {thumbdwn}

well. people who buy 30k cars or any car for that matter can also spend there money any way they want. if you dont like it and its a problem why dont you give them money to mod there car the way you like it.

i painted my front mitsu emblem black. and the fast and the furious movie was great. i liked Tokyo drift and fast & furious4. i must be super mega rice times 3. send me 50 bucks and ill paint my emblem how you like it

It is originality. EVOs have a solid reputation and are not viewed as ricers, although there are some haters out there. Yes, people do things that do not match everyone's taste, and most of the time when someone posts something in here that looks bad, we blatantly tell them lol. There will always be people that do stupid things in every car genre, so don't let a few bad apples ruin your perspective on EVO owners.

To the OP, I can see your concern on how other ricer evo's make yours seem less of a beast. But my car is currently set up the way I like it to include yellow brembos and black powder coated x wheels. So everyone is going to do what they want to their cars regardless of opinions.

some stuff is rice (like what Jackie Chan did to his poor Evo) but not red/black badges- u smoke crack lately?
