I hate my evo

So if you look at my posts you will see that every 2 weeks or so there's a new problem with my car sometimes easily solvable thanks to you guys

So today im driving to just pick up some food and all of a sudden my shifter feels really loose like you can lean it to the left and it will just stay there, so i am like oh **** why cant my car work right for one damn day i put it in 1st with some force and the car feels like i started it in 2nd or 3rd. i get it up to 40 mph and the revs are at 3000 WTF, lucky i was only like 4 blocks from my house but it did this the whole way home and i ran inside to ask you guys about it.

info

new exedy twin HD clutch, some bushings that were "made" for my car were put in by the guy who installed the clutch, and it was pop'ing out of gear in 5th over 80 mph

This seems obvious enough. You might have better luck with your car if you research the parts that are getting put in first.

i didnt even ask for them to put on buddy.

Sounds like a shifter cable/bushing issue.

xxD3MONxx Jan 23, 2010 12:25 PM

is that by chance also a expensive issue?

Here's what you have to do:
1. Buy a set of underhood bushings (I run speedsource, they're awesome)
2. Pop the hood, remove battery and battery tray, get the "custom made" bushings out and install the new ones you bought.
3. Enjoy one of the best/easiest/cheapest mods you can perform on your evo.
3.5. Since you are working on the shifter, go ahead and get the shifter base bushings also, you will be very happy.
Don't hate on the evo, it's an awesome car, and most of the time if it fails it's due to poor workmanship when installing parts, or in your case, poor parts installed in the car.
Enjoy

yea i just looked up the tutorials on how to install the bushings it looks like this could be pretty easy

does this also explain why my car was going to like 40 mph in "1st" at 3000rpm?

xxD3MONxx Jan 23, 2010 12:47 PM

i love you guys, i just pop'ed the hood and one of the pins that holds the bushing in place is just gone so theres the problem

I don't know, try the bushings fix first, if the problem persist then you might have to start looking at a possible faulty clutch installation, or shifter cables like others mentioned (very unlikely)
Keep us posted, remember always go from easy/cheap to hard/expensive when fixing an unknown issue with the evo.

now that its fixed, are you going to apologize to your Evo?

lol sounds like you need to find a different shop to do your work. thats shotty at best and i for one would never go back to a shop that cant get it right the first time around. i understand things happen which is cool but if your having multiple issues with your car constantly after they touch everytime its time to move around .

Find someone else to work on your car...aka yourself. If you just read through the forum enough, you can diagnose almost anything that goes wrong with your car.

its funny cuz i have used 3 different shops and all of them have done the worst work ever.

It's because you were in third. Take care of the bushing issue first and make sure your shifter housing didn't come loose.

This happened to me once scary stuff the car was actually trying to take off in like 3rd ....Just buy some nice underhood shifter bushings and switch them out its nice little mod to do...
