trouble selling evo's?
Is it just me or are evo's just not moving period? A while back I was seeing "Sold!" everywhere I went on this forum, mautofied, craigslist. But now these things are just sitting right where they are. Not only that I have had some ridiculous offers and then when I say no, people get very rude. I wish I lived closer to the coast where people know what these cars are and can do. But here I thought the economy was picking back up a bit and Im getting less interest in my car now than when the economy was near its lowest late last year to mid last year. Very odd but anyone else have a terrible time getting what its worth out of your evo?

It's either because of recession or people are asking for more than what the value's worth...Or beat up which is too bad. Don't get me wrong but there's a lot of good one's in here and low mileage. If im rich i will buy more than 4.

Some possibilities:
The banks aren't willing to finance the street value of the car, and the perspective buyers don't have enough for an appropriate down payment. The most motivated and/or unhappy with their cars have already sold at a lower price, leaving the pool of lower-priced Evos that much smaller. |
the economy does not help any one right now, just hang in there every thing will work out with time.

ya most people talk to me and get really enthusiastic. Then comes the phone call that they went to the bank and their credit wasnt good enough or they were just flat out not approved. Or I had one guy who wanted it and then that night his son had a severe allergic reaction and the next day he had 20k in med bills from the er. A bit suspicious because it took me a month to get my 5k medical bills...which sucked. I hate it when someone says Ill take it only to get a call back saying oh the bank didnt approve me. People just dont understand the correct order of operation when buying a car, home, or any major purchases. Make sure that funds are or can be available, select item, negotiate, purchase, enjoy...

I'm looking to buy one and it seems like it's difficult to find a clean low mileage reasonably priced one close to me

hey wisconsin :) thats where I bought mine, and its a good jaunt from missouri let me tell ya, iowa is so boring
|
Not all is lost.. Someone is bound to want a nice summertime ride.
|
Issues I know of on buyer side is the difficulty in getting credit...they see 03-04 mits lancer. 15k max loan, etc...
and some people are asking for 27k + for their cars. sure, its a nice car. but your not going to get **** back from your parts, and you cant be surprised when people wont pay. |
Don't forget to blame the economy. Its getting back up, but very slowly.
|
When I went to pick up my Evo VIII from a dealership, I asked if the car had a lot of interest. The salesman said yea it did, but no one could get approved for a loan. I thank my blessings for being in a good position.

I noticed they are starting to go back up to average prices... I almost risked alot of things last year when i was seeing prestine evos going for 15k... I got pre approoved and almost bought another one... But now i can actually afford it but they went back up in the lower 20's... Which is still cheap in my opinion(for the prestine ones of course). So as soon as someone posts up under 30k miles for under 18k im jumpin on it!!!!!

A lot of it is, people are asking way too much for used evos now. An 03-04 should be no more than 16k tops! Unless its crazy low mileage. The seller will say, "look at all my mods, thats why the price is high". Cars are not an investment. I have a 92 eagle talon with around $22k spent on it over the last 7 years. I will NEVER get 20k for that car. I would be lucky to get 8k for it. Sorry to say, but even 9's should be floating around the high teens low twenty's now. I see stock 9's listed for $25-$27k. Thats insane. I would buy a used X for that. My .02 |
Yeah I bought mine for close to 18 and Im selling it for under 14. Its pretty highly modded and makes me really depressed but it seems the lower I drop it (im making payments and asking payoff), the less interest I get. Then I come back on here from time to time and yeah, the prices on here are crazy. From time to time the fs section has a deal but not too often. When it is a deal its a car that someone has put like 35k into and there only asking 20k or something to that effect. Maybe I just need to trailer it out to ohio and park somewhere with a for sale sign on it and let someone drive it away. People seem to get more for these on the coasts...
