Help the 8 won't start.
Today drove the car to work and everything wqs fine got off work and the car wouldnt start. The lights work stereo etc.. All electric seems to be working. The cat clicks when i turn the key but doesn't fire up. I got the local security to come jump
me but car wouldn't start with the jump, just clicked. This happened once before when my licp blew off but from what I can see the pipe is on there firm. I'd have to take the bumper off to be certain. Any ideas on what's wrong thanks. |
sounds like the starter, maybe the alternator or battery.
+1 on the starter... So it just clicks? Doesn't turn over or anything?
Starter...
2003 evo, probably have to replace that starter now.
try tapping on the starter w/ a wrench. if nothing id replace it. Intercooler pipe blown off would still turn the car over.... just wouldnt be able to boost.
And would idle like crap
Don't know what turn over means but ya it just clicks oonce when I turn the key. Tow guy said starter as well. Does the same thing
Turns over meaning the engine is rotating by the starter.
try the starter
Got it towed to the local tech, I'll let
him know to check the starter. Any ways of diagnosing this bad boy |
Check the fuseable link (Fuse) really close to the starter. Mine blew during an autox, and that was it. I had the fuseable link removed, never had a problem again. Good thing my evo mechanic was with me at the race. I say it's that. Starter problems come on gradually, a blown fuse, is immediate. Like what you are describing.
