Can't Remove E-Brake Handle

I received the Rexpeed CF E-Brake Cover, but I can't seem to get the old one removed. I've twisted every which way, with all my might and it still won't budge.

What's the trick?:crap::confused:

I've been wondering the same thing.. I've been meaning to get rid of this ricey MR one..

MR Real LA Dec 25, 2010 08:54 PM

well idk if the MR handle and the GSR handle are the same but mine, a MR, has tiny screws on the sides...use an L key to remove them and the handle should come out effortlessly...but then again, i'm not sure if they're a difference in the handles....lol

I'm curious as well on how to remove it, as well as how the quality of the rexspeed e-brake is

The quality looks great much better than that of the OEM peice. Shame I can't get it off though...

Assuming you have the stock leather ebrake handle as opposed to the upgraded factory MR piece it can be kinda a pain to get off. My technique was that I grabbed a blowdryer and heated the handle up for a little bit and then just pulled it straight off.

on my 03, it took a large pair of channel locks and tons of muscle, but it twists off.

Do you think a heat gun would be too much?

Evo8ux2 Dec 26, 2010 06:02 AM

no that'll work fine as well as long as you leave some distance to it so you dont burn the leather

escodotcarter Dec 26, 2010 06:06 AM

i believe you just pull straight forward, no twisting.......heating it up will help it release.

It pulls off just dont let it go on accident and let it fly into the windshield.

mikeevo21 Dec 26, 2010 08:59 AM

i did mine i just use vice grip pliers to twist it off and avoid further accident lol...u just to have to be a little patient..

k20toEVO Dec 26, 2010 06:27 PM

same, I used a yellow microfiber towel over it, and vice griped pliers. moved it sideways until it broke loose and it pulled right off.

Just intalled the same thing on my GSR, there were no holes on the stock one just twist them off no tricks at all, I think you just haven't twist it hard enough so it didnt came off(it was really hard to remove it tho), but for the rexpeed one it has 2 small holes at sides.

I cudnt twist mine off so this is wut i did... took my knife and cut down the center of the oem stitching and pulled off the wrap then took my knife and cut the rubber cylinder around the ebrake handle( u can take ur time i did to make sure i didnt scratch the ebrake handle )... time spent pulling on ebrake about 1 hr... time with knife 15 mins ;)
