It's Time to MOD!!!!

It’s been four years since my last upgrade to my PRECIOUS so I thought I throw some stuff out there and see what the experts and not so experts would say. My current mods are in my sig so I am just adding to that. I am 99% sure I am getting the FP Black turbo, 1450cc FIC Blue MAX Fuel Injectors, 65mm throttle body and ported intake, I currently have the HKS 264 272 combo but was thinking of changing to both 272. That was old DSM trick to get better Idle. Also I am getting the Exhaust manifold ported and coated. I am getting either the BR ported O2 housing or the Megan O2 housing. Then I am thinking of converting to Speed Density and going E85. I am also going to do ARP Head Studs for sure. What do you think about this setup? Does anyone have anything similar? I do what research I can with the limited time and the Crappy internet here in Iraq, but really it takes weeks just to find one thing sometimes. Thanks everyone for any help!!!!:usflag:

Hate to say the most boring mod suggestion, but do you have shifter bushings????

Redbud23 Feb 26, 2011 10:37 AM

of course

Oh yeah I have both inside on the shifter housing and on the Transmission. Thanks

I'd say if your going to take the head off to do the head studs, and you're planning on doing cams anyways, then upgrade your valvesprings and go with a set of GSC S2's or Kelford's. You'll get a lot more power gain out of these cams than the HKS's, MUCH meatier cams and proven to produce a lot more power.

As far as the o2 housing, I hear the megan one works fine however if you were considering open dump then MAPerformance makes a nice piece that I plan on picking up myself.

All set and done though it sounds like you're gona have yourself quite the monster over there.

I am debating pulling the head off or doing one at a time. If I am going to anyway I will replace the springs and retainers anyway and do it while its off. About the GSC S2 havent heard much about them, but I did hear that the kelfords are extremely aggresive. I want to make it fast but still streetableish. I know I made that word up. About being over there the car is in the States I am just deployed over here for know. Thanks for any help

The GSC S1's dont require upgraded valvetrain but from what I keep hearing the S2's are still very streetable, however I don't have them so I wouldn't be able to give you a first hand evaluation.

I feel like the S3's are straight race and meant for those lookin to break that 1000 mark

S2's are definitley streetable, I commute with them.

The only con I have is a slight dead spot sometimes when pulling off from a stop with low throttle.

A dead spot thats weird.

make sure you do the studs and keep the tourqes down with the beast fp black{thumbup}. cant wait to see the tranformation of another evo and its owner!

Redbud23 Feb 27, 2011 03:48 AM

oh yeah

Thanks I can't wait either. I have had this car since March 2003. I have spent way to much money on stuff breaking and not enough on go fast parts. I hoping she'll be a screamer!!!!!!!!!!!!

nismos13sleeper Feb 28, 2011 08:27 AM

i wouldnt run a fp black lol. better throw a extra 5k aside rihgt away when u blow the motor up in 5k miles. id buy a nice tubular mani from a rep. company and buy a hta 35r. It'll hold up better. those cams are fine for a big tubro u dont need kelfords. Just ignition and maybe a standalone, aem ect.. but ur choice ur car u have all the other supporting mods for "blowup" power haha.

Night479 Feb 28, 2011 09:39 AM

you dont need a standalone, and 5k for a engine??? more like 1200 if you know what your doing. gt35r yes is nice but to save money bolt on will just fine. ignition yes upgrade for sure, and is nice when you have e85!! map sensor upgrade as well for that high boost

Thanks for the referral :) OP: I would love to help you source these parts when the times comes, we can get everything you outlined at the best prices around. The mods you outlined sound great to me, but if you really start to push that black your bottom end will most certainly be put to the test lol.
