Need some ideas, Evo won't start!
Im starting to get a little bit pissed and frustrated. My car has fuel, and has spark. The cam position sensors are in properly, the cams are degreed properly from what I can see. A friend assembled the motor and degreed the cams for me and did Aaron from ER's mod to the mivec cam gear.
So what the hell do I need to check to get this thing started? Here's a video of the night I tried to start the car for the first time. Im using NGK ILFR7H plugs, The battery was starting to get low here, and then we connected it to another car to jump it so the battery would have full juice, but that didnt work either. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHh50woZDWQ The first few seconds it almost starts, then every other time is like the second half of the video. Im going to do a compression test to make sure there is compression, that should give a pretty good idea as to whats up if anything in that respect. I need some other ideas please as to what needs to be checked to get this car started, Im hoping its something stupid. Thanks in advance. |
When we are talking over PM's I didin't know it almost catches the first time. Damn thats frustrating. I'll have my mechanic friend look at this vid and give suggestions

What were you doing to the car that caused it to "not start" to begin with?
What do you mean? Its a brand new build, just finished everything up the other night and this was me trying to start it for the first time.

Steve how do you know the cam sensor rings are in right?
Yes, they are in right after all, found part of the service manual showing the sensor rings. So that was ruled out.
Did u check all the fuse and ground wire and all the wires make sure all connected
Yes the fuses are all good and the ground wires are all connected
Check the timing belt make sure it at 11 or so and like 1 oclock
Where are you checking to see if it has fuel or spark? What about boost leaks (though I doubt thats it) and compression?
Is it on the stock ECU? |
I'd start with double checking your timing marks...crank sensor? Hard to guess from here.
